I have a 2010 3.8 Base model Genesis sedan. The LCD display has died, and rather than replace it I wanted to ask if anyone had tried one of the new Android Auto head units.
I currently use google maps, which I like, on my phone as my navigation system. If I understand it, the Android Auto function would allow my phone's display to be mirrored to a built-in replacement screen in my dash?
Ideally, I would like something that, like the UNAVI X5, replaces my LCD screen and radio buttons with a large screen for navigation. I like google maps so relying on my phone for navigation is preferred. Also, the existing base model bluetooth integration on my Genesis does not allow navigation commands to come through the sound system. Voice calls are passed through just fine, but the navigation commands are only audible if I turn off bluetooth and rely on the phone's speaker.
In summary:
Anyone replace their base 7 speaker audio head unit with any Android Auto system?
Can you get any of the climate control information to display on the Android Auto head unit (the base unit LCD does double duty with radio and climate control display)?
Can you get spoken navigation commands and/or streamed audio from your android phone to come through the sound system?
Thanks for any thoughts,
Steve
