  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Replacement tires for 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD Sedan?

Upgraded to a Pirelli P-zero for my 2015 AWD. Very nice handling tire, car drives so much better with these. Best I've had on the car since new.
FYI China now owns a controlling interest in Pirelli, 65%. How sad for the Italians. I'll never buy another Pirelli tire again.

I have replaced the original Michelin tires on my 2016 Genesis 3.8 RWD sedan with these Vredestein Quatrac Pro on the original 18" OEM wheels and love them! They are super smooth, super quiet, excellent in rain, very good in snow (for not being a designated winter tire), very responsive steering, awesome straight line tracking, and 400 treadwear, at a very good price. No wonder they got such great reviews at TireRack. I have also installed the Nitto Motivo tires on my 20" summer wheel package, which also have good reviews, but they are nowhere near the Vredestein's in above description. And mind you, I have the RWD.

I, too, replaced with Vredestein Quatrac 5 based on Tire Rack reviews on my 2016 3.8 AWD . Great so far, but not that many miles on them yet. Interesting thread. Thanks all.

Since the last time I checked in on this thread:

Only put about 500 miles on the Genesis since I got the new tires put on in March.

I picked up a CPO 2016 3.8 AWD back in Feb. The car came with Continental DWS06, they looked like new rubber at the time. So far (about 4,000 miles), i have been really happy with them ... great ride quality, quite, and they seem to be holding up well. I don't drive all that hard so I can't comment on aggressive driving performance. If I was replacing tires today, I would put this same tire on the car.
Correction. I got a flat over the weekend and I looked closer and my car, it is riding on Continental PureContact tires. These are a "Grand Touring All-Season" tire - https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...tireModel=PureContact+with+EcoPlus+Technology. The tires on my car are not the Continental DWS06 https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...r=2016&autoModel=Genesis Sedan&autoModClar=V6 These are a "Grand Touring All-Season" tire - an "Ultra High Performance All-Season" tire.

Update on the tires I've used on my 2015 3.8 AWD. Got it CPO, came with cheap Nexan tires (~$100 each). I had no real issues with the tires, decent traction dry, wet and light snow, but they only lasted 25k miles! So you get what you pay for there.

Second set I went with Yokohama Avid Ascend GT which are TireRack exclusive apparently based on the excellent reviews. They lasted me 40k miles (65k mile warranty and 700AA UTQG rating), one tire developed a slow leak so it wore out pre-maturely, but the other tires would have only lasted another 5k miles at most, so that is pretty disappointing since in a non-pandemic year I typically drive about 30k miles per year between commuting and work travel. Otherwise, they had above average traction in dry/wet/snow and felt planted to the road and were reasonably quiet.

Just passed 100k miles, so opted for General Altimax RT43 again based on the good reviews. Good dry and wet traction, no winter weather yet. They do seem to be quieter than my previous Yokohamas. Also 700A UTQG and a 65k mile warranty. So hoping these will go a bit further, lots of reviews of them on Accords and Camrys report 80-90k miles. I will say they are a bit "darty" with the steering response, though. First time I've had a tire that I could really feel a steering difference, and no, they aren't overinflated. They also transmit a few more road bumps to the suspension, but some might say that's a benefit for better road feel. The bumps aren't jarring at all, I just think the Yokohamas had a softer side wall and were generally more compliant.

On my previous 2009 Genny, I had 3 sets of Conti PureContacts which all lasted about 60k miles. If these Generals don't last, I'll probably go back to the Contis, if the price differential isn't warranted by the mileage difference. The Contis are $197.99 vs. $167.99 for the Generals today.

You do know if the tire has a mileage guarantee, they will refund the price difference. So if you got 32,000 miles out of a 65,000 mile tire, you should receive 50% back from the manufacturer.

I've never seen a tire with a mileage "guarantee"? Warranty is pro-rated as you mention, but that only covers manufacturer's defects. IE: bulges or internal failures which are also nearly impossible to prove.
