  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone there replaced the stock Michelins with something else? If so, what, and do you like them? Not that the Michelins are bad tires, but I'm curious to hear other driver's experiences.

TIA

I have a GV60P with stock Primacy Tour A/S tires. When they wear down I intend to replace them with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Why them? Have you used them before?

Those are generally considered the best for handling. I have winter tires that I swap (Michel X-Ice Snow) and they are certainly dramatically better in the winter.

I won't be replacing the stocks for a while - Genesis let me know that they accidentally "drove over them" when they were stored in their shop a few months ago and had to replace all four for me.

I'm finding a lot of vibration in seat and wheel in my new GV70 with 21" Primacy tires. I'm getting 18" winter rims with blizzaks installed in a couple of weeks so we'll see how much of a change it makes and chime in later.

Very interesting you would mention that. My first drive home with my 2024, I thought the very same. Unusually rough ride, I was actually a bit concerned and disappointed.

Swapped to 19" winters as soon as I got home, and haven't driven it again yet (Wife's car) so time will tell if it is the car or the wheels.

Not in particular but here is the description from Michelin of the Primacy Tour series:

What is the best Michelin all season tireline for maximum EV range?

The Primacy family of tires (Primacy Tour A/S, Primacy All Season, Primacy LTX, Primacy XC) is focused on low rolling resistance, both for ICE fuel economy and EV range.
From the Michelin FAQ

This is the Michelin description of the Pilot Sport family:

MICHELIN®PILOT® SPORT EV

  • Efficiency
  • EV Ready

Electrified road control made to last

  • Exceptional Handling
  • Low Rolling Resistance
  • Chosen by Premium Carmakers
  • Supported by the Michelin Promise Plan of a 60-day satisfaction guarantee, roadside assistance, and a 20,000-mileage warranty. Click here for details.
A summer tire works fine for me since I do my driving around greater Phoenix (winter temps generally range between 50s and 70s and will reach into the high 39s very, very rarely overnight). Michelin also makes an all season version of the Pilot family.

Essentially I am willing to give up some range for performance. That is a personal preference.

Interesting comments about vibration. My GV70 came with one defective tire, the left front. It caused vibrations on the highway until it was replaced. All smooth now.

I don't swap to winter tires, so I'll be looking at an all season tire. I've used the Conti LX25 in the past on other cars, and I think it's worth a look when I move to replace the stock tires.

Good to know.
I've put Goodyear Comfortreds on a few of my previous cars and loved them. They're not high performance, but they're smooth and quiet. So depends what you're after but they were always a much nicer ride than the oem tires. Believe they're called Comfort Drive now.

I replaced the 18" bridgetones on my 2.5 standard with michelin cross climate 2, a fantastic all weather 3 peak rated tire. Love them. Check out the great reviews. They are V rated rather than W of the oem but no issues and a major improvement in traction dry, wet and particularly snow.

How is the noise? Any bump up? Looks like a pretty aggressive tread pattern.

We have the Cross Climate 2 on two vehicles in my family. We're really happy with them. They're awesome in all conditions, and surprisingly not any louder, despite the aggressive looking tread design. They did some things in the design to make them quieter (Jason Finske of the Engineering Explained YouTube channel did a review and discusses the tread design).

I went with the Nokian WRG4 SUV tires. Been so warm it has yet to dump any snow here in Ontario but they are amazing in the wet. Had them on my last vehicle and never got stuck in any snow and that was with a fwd vehicle so have no doubt they will be fine. They are all weather like the cross climate so can leave them on all year. Noise isn't noticeably different from the Michelin OEMs, but are maybe a bit quieter tbh. The ride is less harsh also - esp on my gravel drive.

Quieter than the original Bridgestone's...its a fantastic tire...

I tried those on another vehicle...much better than all seasons but not as good as winter tires. I live in Edmonton, Canada so I need the winter tires.
