  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My battery is 5 yrs old and I would like to be proactive and replace it before my next 2000 mile trip. Just wondering if any DIY have replaced it or used someplace like Advanced Auto to replace it? Or is it better to let my dealer replace it? With all the electronics I was concerned that when I disconnected the battery I might lose some settings. Thanks for any advice. Jim

Based on what I’ve read on this forum, the biggest DIY challenge will be finding a correct replacement at an auto parts store.

Advance Auto did mine. They plug in a power source so nothing is lost. I did tip the guy but there was no charge, no reason for me to get my hands dirty.
