  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Having just passed 30,000 miles I was prepared to replace the coolant on my Genesis. I checked the maintenance schedule and found it isn't required to be changed until 120,000 miles. When are you changing the coolant on your car? 120K sounds too infrequent to me.

Todays long life coolants allow for infrequent changes. I would not worry about not adhering to the manufacturers specifications. Heck some Mercedes recommend 150,000 miles. 30,000 miles is pretty old school in todays automotive world. Do as you please if it makes you feel good is the bottom line.

I do the coolant when I do the trans and diff fluid. Usually about 50k. Especially with the trans fluid change - there is a noticeable difference.

My V8 has the same sched. -- first coolant change after 120K miles or ten years.

I like it - don't know if I believe it, though

Make sure you purchase the OEM coolant at the Hyundai Dealer Parts Department.

I don't touch anything until the manual says it is time. Modern cars are extremely reliable ... until mechanics start working on them.

Some good advice given by some wise people here. Thank you. I think I'll hold off changing the fluid. Since I trade my cars in at 45-50K I'll never change the fluid on this car. I am pretty impressed with the relative low maintenance costs on the Genesis.
