  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thanks to all the suggestions I read here, I purchased a Genesis winged badge and removed my Hyundai badge. BTW, 30# fishing line works really well. Took about 2 minutes on a cool day. The sticky tape residue was much more difficult but eventually with Goo Gone, it's off also.

However, I am left with the ghost of Hyundai badge. It's very obvious. I'm assuming that it's the result of wax buildup. I don't recall seeing that mentioned in the forum before so I thought I'd ask. What is the best way to get rid of it?

The car is black and a 2010 model.

Other than wax build-up, it could be paint discoloration caused by part of the paint being exposed to the sun over time. I would try applying a something like Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax (Liquid or Paste version), or any other brand cleaner/wax combo. Then if that doesn't work try Meguiar's Black Wax (specially designed for black paint). You will probably want to wax your entire car with the Meguiar's Black Wax, regardless of your issue around the emblem. If those don't work, I would consult a professional auto detailer who may have other techniques they can try without damaging the paint.

Thanks, I'll get some cleaner wax. I'm scheduled to have it Opticoated next week.
