  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Replacing Stock rims and tires

I put 20" Boss wheels on my silver 4.6 (see Genesis pictures). There was no difference in the ride aside from the fact that it fells like it is on rails like my last BMW. What you can expect is shorter brake life but not that much. I put 20" Boyd Coddington wheels on my mid 60's car and it pounded down the road, but the newer suspensions are alot more forgiving. What you need to know is that you will have to get a wheel that clears the large front brake caliper. When you buy online you may get the offset and bolt pattern right but when you try to install them on the car they wont clear. You will notice the wheel I picked has the spokes join at the lip of the rim similar to the factory wheel and they just clear the brakes. No regrets on my purchase!!

Does anyone know how much the OEM wheels on the 4.6 weigh? I just purchased a 4.6\technology package, black on black a couple of weeks ago, and I'm lloking to put custom 20" wheels with 255\35 tires. Ideally I would like to keep the wheel\tire combo at the same or lower weight than the stock. I was looking at TSW wheels as they are local here to Southern California and have a good reputation, but I wanted to compare the weights with the stock wheels first. By the way, what is everybody's opinion of the Avarus wheel brand? I think the AV4 in the black machined finished would look very cool on the Genesis (I guess they weigh 35.5 lbs, so they are on the heavier side).

Thanks

I don't, but having taken them off, they are HEAVY. It should be easier to find a lighter wheel.

Speaking of which, I replaced the 17" wheels on our Avalon with Konig's that weigh 17 pounds....7 pounds lighter than what was on there. Konig has quite a few light weight options.

I'm new here but have had my car for two years. Has anyone done a staggered with 20x8.5x35mm offset front and 20x9.5x40mm offset rear, while running 255/35 front and 265/35 outback. If so, any rubbing issues?

Appreciate the wheel/tire data. I love the few pics from those of you who have posted your cars with rims. I agree, there are high quality rims out there allowing for larger size and positive performance. Racing the past 20 years in Porsche and BMW club and other organizations, it's common in my circles to spend big $$$'s on lighter/larger rims....making room for big $$$'s on brakes.....for increased performance!

Quick sidenote: Saw in signature someone had LED lights for doors???

LED door handle lights :) carid.com I have those on my daily driver LOL! Where I live LED lights are pretty much illegal. Roll at your own risk!

Yup, just a standard wedge bulb for the "puddle lights" as some call them. A 164.
