In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi

1. Fog lights

Thanks a lot.

I know there are posts out there about the Fog Lights. I want to start this one as well sone, since mine is a 2015 3.8 and i wanted to always get the fog lights.

Search and you will find plenty of stuff about 1,3 and 4. #2 is something that it is not offered in NA and only a KDM option.

The door sills can be bought off ebay from korea. Then you need the wiring harness which is a USA only part. Google Illuminated Door Sills in the forum.

Thanks for the input guys please keep them coming. So both fog lights and sill plates CAN BE installed, im glad.

I live in Southern California (Orange County). Does anyone know of a local shop that can install the LED fogs in my 2015 Genesis Ultimate?

the fog lights are simple if your going the easy route meaning obtaining the lights from ebay, making your own wiring harness which is easy if you know basic 12v wiring

I used a very small switch from a fog light kit and modded the wiring to work, you can do that complete job in maybe 2 hrs with the longest part being the bumper removal

Reggie has the scoop on this. I remember him saying he had his added in. He also modified it to stay on like DRL.

I ordered the fog lights off eBay. When you order them, make sure they come with the connector that plugs behind the fog light. From there, whatever shop you choose should be able to run a harness from the lights to your fuse box in your engine bay where they will just use one of those "add a fuse" things to wire it to be on every time the lights are on if you want it to function as a drl. I chose this route because I didn't want the added cost/hassle of switching out the light stalk for one with a foglight switch or adding an aftermarket switch somewhere inside the cabin as I wanted it to look as stock inside as possible. I personally don't care if they are on during the day or the fact that I can't disable them at night since they theoretically reduce night vision, especially since it is never foggy here in So Cal. I did it through Precision Sound in Chino Hills and they can wire it however you like, with a clean install and all wires hidden. They have plenty of experience with wiring and were doing multiple things to multiple cars when I got there and considered my car to be an easy project.

A word of caution re the fog lights. If you state has annual vehicle safety inspections check and make sure whatever you do meets those requirements or you might be in for a rude awakening on your next inspection. Here in Va you can't use fog lights as DRLs and there are the requirements for when they can be on and when they must be off like off when your high beams are on and only on when the headlights are on low beam (i.e. not with your parking lights only).

I won't even get into the potential issue that AFAIK the foglights from e-bay and Korea are not exactly the same as the ones installed on US and probably Canadian vehicles. The ones from e-bay/Korea do not have the necessary SAE/DOT approval markings on them so as such are only for "off road" use only.

^ Agreed.

I always wondered though about Mercedes Benz cars in VA. Their fog lights are their drls. I'm guessing they dim as drls but brighten as fog lights and disable with headlights. Pure speculation on my part.

I didn't even think of checking the housing on the ebay lights for the SAE/DOT approval markings. They came in a Mobis box but they could be for the Korean domestic market just like you said.

Dammit.

I think you might find that those MB "fog lights" are not really fog lights that actually project and illuminate any distance forward of the vehicle, but are really "DRLs" that just happen to be in the location that might be used as fog lights on other vehicles. I would bet that once the low beams come on those "DRLs" will go off and stay off. Of course this is all just somewhat of a guess on my part and could well be wrong.

To the Korean vs. US fog light versions IIRC the US ones MOBIS number ends in a "1" whereas the ones from Korea end in a "0". This could also account for why the ones you get from a US Dealership are so much more expensive ... part of that might be that SAE/DOT certification on the lens.

The e-bay/Korea Mobis # are 92201 B1000, 92202 B1000 and the US version # are
92201 B1010, 92202 B1010 so it's actually the next to last digit that's different in the two numbers.

I've had my genny since 8/14 and the fogs for almost a yr now..most shops dont even want to really screw around with a car they know nothing about and damage something.. I've never had an issue with my foglights and I assume I have the Korea lights..

the whole SAE cert is crap anyway in my opinion.. the most powerful county in the world using vehicle lighting directives from over 50 yrs ago

most vehicles on the road are still using lighting tech thats over 100 yrs old.. smh..anywho.. if your in Va just dont't try to get your inspection from a hyundai dealer

Good information Rloyola. I'm going to contact Precision Sound tomorrow (Monday) - I live in Anaheim Hills, so they're not too far from me. Thanks for the information....

While you have every right to YOUR OPINION is just that and has NO BEARING on whether you fail or pass the annual Va Safety Inspection. Also, while a dealership that does inspections might be more knowledgeable that still has NO EFFECT on what the inspection standards are. I agree that one may or may not have issues and was only pointing out that the risk IS THERE and one should at least be aware of it.

Do you happen to know what type of blade our fuse is (i.e. blade type, micro, low profile, etc.)?

Reason I'm asking is because I'm in the process of hardwiring a dashcam, and going to purchase some add a fuse's.
