  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, I tried to get at my reverse camera to check the connection, no picture on the screen.

I take the felt liner off the inside of the trunk, surprise, no camera! I would have thought it would just be a matter of a couple of fasteners holding the camera in place. NOOO! The camera seems to be "inside" the trunk lid and I can't see how to get at it without lifting the outer "skin" for lack of a better term and I'm not sure I want to do that.

Anyone know of any tricks to get at the camera?

Just to qualify, it's a 2013 Genesis sedan which is out of warranty.

Ron, I have a 2012 and had the same issue blank screen and took the felt off and found like you the camera behind some metal. I also asked for help here and nobody came forward so assume nobody had figured out how to access the location without a lot of work. Mine came back on after about three months after taking a hair dryer to the lens and heating it up. That was about a year ago and has worked ever since. Give it a try as it is simple and for what ever reason applying heat did it for me.

Thanks beachbaker. Right now it's pretty cool out here, I may wait for things to warm up a bit and try the hair dryer thing.

Maybe the cam will start working on it's own once it warms up ... <G>

I had this issue one time when screen went black (blank). Somebody on the forum suggested to slam trunk several times when closing. It worked in my case. YMMV.

Mine had random issues before. I replaced my reverse lights with LEDs and disconnected, reconnected everything I saw back there.
It has been 2 months and the camera has worked perfect everytime since.
So maybe just a bad connection overtime?

Hyundai back up cameras are all garbage. I have the same problem black screen. I check with my local dealer and they said that the camera in all of the Hyundai were not good quality. Cost about $1500 to replace yes $1500 crazy . You have to take the liner out of the trunk and the trunk skin from behind the license plate to get to the camera. I did the job took me one hour to get to the camera without breaking any of the clips. Try to find a aftermarket one they work great.
