  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, Hyundai Corporate reads this site.

Well I'm going to tell them how much I love Rick Case Hyundai. Let's see if they respond to this:

I had gone to Rick Case and test drove a Genesis (non tech) I believe in early July. I asked them to call me when they got a tech model in. On July 31, 2008 a salesman, Randall, called to tell me they had gotten in their first tech Genesis. He suggested that I should consider leasing it rather than buying it.

He quoted me the following official lease terms:
V6 with tech package
-- $499 per month
-- $1680 down
-- +Tax and Registration
-- $595 disposition fee at end of lease if you turn it in
-- $26,400 to buy it at end of lease

I went to Rick Case (Ft. Lauderdale) and took a very long test drive with Randall. When we got back to the dealer. I said "Let's do it.'" He then wrote up the deal and presented it to the sales manager (Leroy) who said . We don't make enough money on the official lease and we want $800.00 more up front and I think $89.00 more per month."

I told him that Coconut Creek Hyundai had called about the same time as Randall and I was going there. Long story short. I bought at Coconut Creek.

I also told this story to a Hyundai Representative at the Ft. Lauderdale Auto Show yesterday. She said that she had heard several not very good stories about Rick Case and couldn't understand how they managed to stay in business.

I would not be disappointed if Leroy lost his job.

P.S. I ran into Leroy about two weeks ago at my doctor's office. I said "I know you. You're the deal killer." He said "That's right." I said "it's because of you that I will never set foot in Rick Case again." I then decided it was best if I moved to another room before we got into a fight.

P.P.S. This was not a credit problem. Very few people have a higher credit score than I do.

OK, you said you wanted to LEASE at Rick Case, but because you did not get the deal they said they were going to give you, you BOUGHT at Coconut Creek.

You can't compare a least to a purchase. (or did you mean you leased at Coconut Creek?)

I was not making any comparison between a lease and a purchase.

I was trying to tell about my experience at Rick Case. Where they phoned and told me that I could lease the car at a certain price in order to get me in the front door and then not honor the deal they told me about on the phone. I believe it was a classic bait and switch. Going as far as to write up the deal and then reject it. The salesman claimed it was the first Genesis he had tried to lease and claimed that he didn't know the dealer would not do the official lease. Classic "blame the other guy."

By the way, the lease price he told me about on the phone was the official advertised lease price by Hyundai at the time.

Yes, I purchased at Coconut Creek. They also would not do the lease but they did not tell me before hand that they would in order to get me in the door.

P.S. I forgot to mention that I had printed out a coupon from Rick Case's web site. The coupon was for either one or two years of free gas. When I asked Leroy about the free gas. He replied "Oh, you have to pay a more for the free gas."

Glad you worked out a deal on your terms, this is not the time for dealers to make demands.

I had a similar experience here in columbus oh. the owner of the dealership even called me to explain... they appologize but the deal still not working out.

I had a few cars in the last 6 years in the US, a few cars when Im in hongkong and 2 cars in Canada in my last 20 years of car buying... never see such thing before.

I originally started out negotiating with Rick Case in Atlanta area for a cash purchase on a Genesis Sedan. They started giving me the run-around by adding substantial extra fees on top of the quoted out-the-door price.

I got tired of their tactics and went to Ed Voyles Hyundai to make my purchase and had no trouble at all.

That's odd,

I tried to purchase my Genesis at Rick Case Hyundai in Atlanta. The sells person (don't remember his name), told me that he would call me when he got a black on black 4.6 in. Told me that I was first on the list. I called this guy every week for 3 weeks. On the third week, he said " let me call you back after I check our shipping status". He still hasn't called me back. I think he was upset that I test drove the gold v-6 and didn't buy it. On veterans day, I purchased what I wanted (black on black, tech pakg, v-8) from Cartersville Hyundai. I had originally also gone to another dealer where this sales woman also got upset because I tried out a burgandy v-8 and would not buy it. I told her that I would only buy the black on black. Then she tries to sell me a Mazda 6. It takes special people to be an automobile sells person.

I gave both Rick Case and Coconut Creek Hyundai a chance for my business.
First chance was given to Coconut Creek which I did my first test drive back in September. I met the Sales Manager and thought he was a nice guy. Didn't think too much of the salesman since he didn't seem to know much about the car. Anyway the feeling I got was they were gushing all about how great a car the Genesis is but when it came to the customer, this is where they failed. The following week, I sent a letter to the sales manager and followed up with a phone call. Never heard back. The letter was my way of staying in touch and talk about what i was looking for: Price, Financing and Trade value. In my letter I stated my target time to buy was early 2009. I guess since I was not ready to buy that day, nobody wanted to follow-up with me to cultivate the sale. With Rick Case, I submitted an internet inquiry and since I already had a idea on the pricing and had at that point driven the car 3 times (also at the Miami auto show 2X) I wasn't going to step into a dealership without getting what I thought was a fair deal. Since I had not heard glowing reviews of working with them I wanted to make sure the deal was solid. Anyway after probably 6 or so calls between 2 sales people, they didn't (or couldn't) make the deal I wanted which was at invoice or under.

I wound up going outside of South Florida to get a good deal at Wallace Hyundai in Stuart FL. They made the trip worthwhile for me and did all the logo installations and trunk speaker liner install at no charge. I also got a better finance deal they what I found on the internet and got the trade value I was looking for on my Honda Accord. Wallace met every condition I had laid out in the letter to Coconut Creek which could have had my business if they paid alittle attention to the customer.
