Ride improvement over 2012 genesis 3.8

Hi,

I am a new owner (< 2 months) of a 2012 genesis 3.8 w/ premium. I like everything about the car (fit/finish/features/performance) but cannot stand the jittery ride.
I am considering trading the vehicle in for an equus. I noticed that a lot of posters have already gone through this upgrade.

Can you guys/gals comment on the ride improvement from genesis to equus? Is there still some ride harshness/jiggleness over uneven surfaces in the equus?

Check the tire pressure first and experiment a bit with different settings. Some folks don't know that the number on the tire is not the setting.

It took me some miles to get used to the suspension. It depends a lot on your last car as to how quickly you accomodate. I'm most happy now on freeways. Around town bumpy roads can be harsh at times.

I have about ~2K miles on it. I did adjust the tire pressure from overinflated delivery to 33 PSI factory recommended. I am starting to get used it more but still wondering if anyone had done the transition from Genesis -> Equus.

I didn't confirm this, but I think the tire pressure recommendation is 32.

I had a one of the first Genesis 2009 V6s with the tech package. I never had any complaints about the ride. The roads in Florida are smooth compared to states that have freezing weather and resulting pot holes. I now have 2013 Equus. The ride difference is night and day. The Equus is much smoother, not at all jittery. You can adjust the ride between ultra soft and stiffer (sport). The Equus does not turn into sports car by selecting the sport suspension. It is a luxury cruiser with either suspension selected. I find the Equus more like a 1997 BMW 740 iL that I had but some people may question a comparison to a BMW.
The Genesis was the most reliable car I ever had. I am expecting the Equus to be as reliable.

The Equus has an air suspension that is signifigantly different than the Norht American Genesis (the KDM version has air suspension as an option), and is much smoother over rough roads. The Genesis is designed to have more of a sporty suspension and not at all like a cushy American car or some Japanese cars. If you are not used to a sporty and firm suspension (which in theory has better handling), you may want to consider something other than a Genesis. Equus would be a good choice if you can afford it, or maybe Lexus ES, Linclon, Caddy, etc.

For what it's worth, I drove, back to back, a 2012 Equus (new) and a 2012 Genesis R-spec with 7,000 miles on it (dealer demo). While the Equus was a little softer riding, I didn't notice any "jitterness" with either car. Maybe it was because I'm also used to driving a C5 Corvette. Both cars drove very nicely. In fact, I was very surprised at the comfortable ride of the R-Spec over some rough city streets.

If you turned the ride control on the Equus to "Sport," it actually was more harsh than the R-Spec.
