  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I have a 2011 Genesis 4.6 Sedan. One of my major complaints is the road noise and noise insulation. I am wondering, does the 2015 Genesis Sedans have better insulation than the 1st gen genesis sedans (is it quieter than the 1st gen)? I am considering maybe upgrading to a pre owned 2015 5.0 sedan, and this would be one thing I would want and would make me consider more or less.

Wife had a 2009 Genesis before her 2015 that she now has. She's sitting here next to me and I asked her about a comparison. At somewhere around just over 100K miles something happened and it started leaking oil from somewhere. Had it not been for that, she said she'd still have it (we just decided then was as good a time as any to upgrade). She loved it and doesn't really notice much in the way of a comfort difference in any regard from '09 to the '15.

And to add, I certainly don't recall any noise issues it the '09.

A lot depends on the tires. Big difference when I switched from the 18" OEM Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires to same brand Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires, the OEM tire was whisper quiet (somewhat eerily quiet), now I have tread roar, not that bad, but after the whisper quiet, you can hear it.

The 5.0 uses different stock tires though, and it depends on what tires the past owner switched to.

I owned two sets, the two new (to me) ones are sitting on Michelin tires and I all I can say, when the radio is off and with some gentle acceleration on some mornings, tomb like tranquility comes to mind, even in the 5.0...
