  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Road Trip to CT

Just after I got my Genesis 3.8, the wife and I took a great road trip from Texas to North Carolina and back. The drive in the Genny was one of the best parts of the trip. We have 2 more long trips (at least) for 2012 and again will take the Genny. Long road trips was my number one reason for buying the Genesis in the first place.

Also, if memory serves me correct, the Genesis has 5 star crash ratings just in case there is a problem, and your rental may not be as good in a crash. What are a few rock chips compared to your comfort and your safety?

So I just got back from the long road trip (a total of 2,500 miles) and it was very good! I had no issues and tons of looks from people.

The gas mileage was really good, I was able to get 540 miles out the first tank and only had to fill up twice to get there and twice back. I was very impressed!

Now the Genesis is really dirty so tomorrow I have an appointment to get the whole inside and outside detailed cleaned and waxed looking like the showroom quality again.

(That was the worst part and seeing my Genesis get so filthy as I keep her clean each day)

But I would rate the trip ride 100%, and I was able to drive all 20 hours without having to rest - it was that fun to drive!
I appreciate all the feedback everyone provided.

Dominic

I currently live in Ludowici GA, but born and raised in Bridgeport CT. I was thinking about taking a road trip back up north to visit family and friends since it's been awhile. :D

Well I got car detailed and looks like I have a small ding right above my door handle on passenger side. I hope a PDR guy can fix it. It's not big but noticeable on a black car.

*Wonders if the detail guys did it* But I have no proof so I'll just get it repaired.

It sounds like you enjoyed the trip. Awesome!

It still sucks to have something that dings the outside up no matter where it came from. It may "just be" a Hyundai, but it's still our baby! :)

I got a quote for $50 dollars to fix it, it will be fixed in the next week or so and will be as good as new. :D

I paid same for very small ding in passenger door. Took him less than 5 minutes and looks perfect!

I'm still waiting for my first rock ding or dent in the door from a parking lot bung hole. My Sonata got a dent in the drivers door after 3 days ownership and that was it except for a chipped windshield four years later. I almost want it to happen to my Genesis just to get it over with so I can stop worrying about it.

I have had 3 dings fixed by a good PDR guy in my area. I also had an unfortunate parking lot encounter that wound up costing $1200 to fix, alas.
