  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Door window enigma.
My 2012 Hyundai Genesis, 4 door V6, 3.8 has right rear window that has stopped in the middle and will not move. I have removed and tested a 30a fuse from the driver side fuse panel. The fuse is good. I have removed the master switch control assembly from the driver's armrest and replaced with another, make no difference. There is no audio when I toggle the switch to activate the window. I'm thinking there's another fuse somewhere that's open.
Has anyone been able to solve this brain-twister?
Please-Thank you.

Welcome! Just letting you know that this topic has been moved out of the community lounge and into the first generation Hyundai Genesis Sedan forum. :)

What about the lift mechanism itself? You have to remove the door panel and then you can see if it is getting power. If yes, and does not move, that would be the problem.

How critical is having that window work? I never put my windows down, so, in my 2001 Buick when the lift failed after accidentally hitting the button, I removed it and blocked the window in the up position with a piece of wood jammed below it.

Thanks Ed. I was sorta hoping that the fix would be really easy like saying the magic words. Being that there is no audible when I flip the toggle I figured somebody would know about a fuse or something. Being only 70,000 miles I kinds figured that the motor was not burned out. I'll look for juice at the switch. I guess if the door switch isn't getting any voltage the problem has to be with a circuit.
Thanks again for helping.

Dumb questions first:
  • Window Lock switch (driver's door) is unlocked?
  • Have you tested the window from the Rear Pass armrest switch?
  • Child door lock switch is not set?

Presuming none of those are the issue:
1) Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. This may reset the window safety and allow operation.
2) Basic wiring check for power/ground at the various critical points (switch, door, motor, etc.).
3) Visual/mechanical inspection of window regulator.

Thanks Gunkk
I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes.
Child door switch not set
Have not removed door panel, yet.
Checked the 30A fuse, wondering if there's another door fuse?
Thanks for the heads-up.

probably the motor, open the door and give it a good slam closed and see if it will go up.

Worth a shot, thanks.

God Bless ye merry gentlemen, it worked. I turned on the ignition, sat in the back seat and toggled the switch while banging on the door panel, not even too hard and lo and behold it worked. Thanks, JEBIV and all of you who helped.
It's the same old story of anyone who has ever worked with electric motors, and I was too dumb to see it...all I needed was a push in the right direction.
It was a dead spot on the armature or commutator, or whatever contact there might be in the motor.
Problem solved.
I'll check the posts now to see if I can help some poor bloke who has some kind of headache like I had.
Sincere thanks.
