If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Anyone find a roof rack for the Genesis sedan? I checked both Thule and Yakima and they apparently do not yet have a kit for the Genesis. Thanks.

Lots of luck.

I have been looking for a "Dash-Mat" or "Dash Cover" as the Florida Sun beating down on a dashboard in the summer is brutal. Nobody makes it yet. This is the last thing I want to add to this car (famous last words), as I've added the Mud-Flaps (rigid) and the Trunk Lip Spoiler. Not interested in anything else. (Again, famous last words).

I checked Yakima as I have a Q Tower system from my old vehicle I need to use on my Genesis. They still don't have a fit guide for it. I sen them a message to find out why.

I did put up my front bar with Q Towers and feet last night and it seems like it'll work without issue once dialed in - I did not change the spread between the feet from my old vehicle which seems a bit wider. The Q Tower feet seem like they'll rest nicely on the roof between the door opening and where it drops down for the rain gutter and across the roof itself.

I have to order new rubber feet for my rack as the old ones are a good 10 years on and started to leave marks on my old roof. I'm also going to get some 3M clear vinyl to place under each foot to help protect the paint. Will post pics once I have it all mounted....that is unless Yakima tells me there is no safe way to put it on the Genesis.

may i ask, what items or stuff are you plan of carrying on the roof rack?

Snowboards and possibly my 17' canoe, but more than likely that'll stay on the wife's Sube when used. Skybox eventually when my girls are a few years older and bringing more stuff camping than the trunk can handle but I'd rather buy a Space trailer for that and throw a hitch on.

Scratch that earlier idea of just using what I have. The Q clips (what actually 'grabs' the vehicle) from my old set will not work and Yakima has no sets for the sedan. They have clips for the coupe, but there is a track along the door opening and roof that is not present on the sedan. They came back to my message with "We're looking into it" basically.

I went to a local Rack Attack shop yesterday and had a nice long chat with a knowledgeable rep. My options came out as such:

- Keep my Yakima bars and accessories, but convert to hard mounted feet or tracks+feet system. Yep you read that right - hard mounted - meaning screwed into the roof, not likely I know, although the tracks are aluminum and pretty low profile so they'd sit in the roof depression nicely and below the outside roof line. Get them paint matched they might actually look kind of cool. Cost $350-400 depending on if I went with just feet or tracks+feet.

- Keep just my Yakima snow racks and get a whole new bar and feet setup from Thule that actually has a naked roof rack compatible system for the sedan. Cost $400 or so. I could get a few bucks for my Yak stuff, but there is always supply on CL in Minnesota so I wouldn't hold my breath for big bucks.

I know there hasn't been much interest on here about roof racks and most of you probably want to laugh at or kill me for even talking about mounting ugly stuff like this to the sleek and sexy roof of our cars, but just putting this up here in case it helps anyone now or later.

You could all email Yakima for me as well so they think there is a great demand for making a clip for our vehicles! :D

Just traded in my 2011 Nissan Maxima for a 2012 R-Spec sedan. I have the Q tower yakima rack as well. I messed around with it a bit today and I think it will work with the clips from my old max. I'm going to mount it tomorrow and I'll let you know how it goes.

Lots of luck.

Hey Bob,

Have you considered getting a good sunshade for your front windshield to block the sun's rays and reduce the interior temps?

I do not have a garage, so my 2013 R-Spec sits out in the S. Florida sun all the time. I bought an Intro-Tech Ultimate Reflector Custom Folding Auto Shade.

It fits perfectly on all sides and around the mirror and those black boxes behind the mirror. It helps to significantly reduce interior temps from sitting in the sun. It folds like an accordion and takes only a few seconds to put up or take down. When I'm driving, I stow it on the right side of the center console and tuck the top end between the passenger seat and the console. None of my passengers including my wife complain about be cramped.

Except for the ceramic tint on my windows, this is the best accessory I've added to my Genesis.

For anyone interested in using a yakima Q tower roof rack on their genesis sedan I was able to mount the system using my old maxima q clips today. The base of the Q Towers will overlap the gutter trim between the roof and the door but this is perfectly acceptable according to yakima. The fit guide for my maxima was the same way. The fit that worked for me was to move the towers to the furthest edge of the crossbars for both front and back. The front tower bases overlapped the gutters by maybe a third of the width. The back towers sat almost completely outside of the gutters. I mounted my front towers 10" back from the front corners of the windshield and the back towers 30" back from those. If anyone needs more specific information please feel free to message me.

Breaking out the AED... Clear...

Bringing this back from the dead because I'm in the market for one but can't find many images of sedans with different rook racks installed. Has anybody else added a roof rack to their car over the past year? I'm looking at the Yakima Q Tower System. Any input would be appreciated.

Redlegtrooper: What width fairing are you running in the attached picture? How do you like it and did it scratch or scuff the surface of the roof?

The ones you need are Q99. Too bad cause I just sold my roof rack with fairing last month.

Just look on the Yakima website, they have had a fit for our sedans since late 2014. I have the Yakima round bars and have bike attachments, snowboard attachments, and also a basket. Taken it off recently because I like opening the sunroof on the highway without the noise.
