Rusted hood shock

I detailed my car a few days ago and while cleaning under the hood, I noticed the passenger sides hood shock was rusting. There is about a 1.5 long sleeve at the point where the shock goes into the main body that separated and underneath it, it was all rusted. Will snap pic when I get a chance. Will point out to dealer at my next oil change to see if it is covered or not. Just wanted to see if anyone else noticed this happening on their Genesis.

Nope and I drive in horrible salted road conditions several months of the year.

Most manufacturers have this HOWEVER this never covers surface rust, only perforation due to rusting. Basically it's a pretty useless warranty IMHO.

This is far more than surface rust. I pulled up that loose sleeve and the part underneath is completely rusted. Will snap a pic when I get a chance.

That does look nasty. I am sure it will be covered under warranty. Why is the protective cap slit length wise? Mine is not.

That is how I noticed it. It split do to the growth of the rust. I have been working a lot of hours at work so it was almost a month since I last raised my hood. When I did, it stood right out because that plastic case was part way down the rusted piece.

Wow that is nasty looking was not expecting it to look that bad. Let us know what your dealer says.
