  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Scheduled maintenance costs and frequency. I own a 2005 lexus ls 430 and the scheduled maintenance costs every 5,000 miles is almost criminal.

Maintenance costs are one reason I did not buy a Mercedes.
$280. for an oil change every other oil change, and for the other oil change, it is almost $700. I under stand that both BMW and VW are also high.

In reading my owners manual, to see what must be done, (I'm from the old school and do most non complicated "inspections" myself) I checked both my closest dealer, and my selling dealer. Closest dealer wants $39.95 for an oil & filter change. My selling dealer wants $26.95 for an oil & filter change. When I questioned, "are you sure, because the Genesis takes so much oil?" I was assured that it is $26.95. This is with Non Synthetic oil. Did not ask how much if they use their Mobil-1 Synthetic.

Only because I looked at 535i prior to buying the Genesis, BMW offers all service for free on new cars for the first 4 years.

My local Mercedes dealer, who last year just opened a brand new dealership near my home, sent out a flyer in the mail today advertising free oil changes for life on any car purchased at the dealership (to the original owner). Of course, they are probably bleeding severely in today's economy and doing whatever they can to get people in to purchase a car.

but it comes with a car wash and free latte.

I noticed that both V6 and V8 use synthetic AT fluid and Hyundai does not specify any drain or flush interval (be careful if you do add fluid because they each use different kinds of synthetic AT fluid). So that is one less maintenance thing to worry about.

Platinum plugs are usually rated for 100K miles, so oil changes, and occasional radiator fluid change are about the only things I can think of. There are probably a few other items I left out, but not many.

Nothing's really free...my brother drives an '08 535. Comparing cars/features, etc., he paid about $20K more for his than I did for my Gen. Guess that will buy a lot of oil changes, etc....

The estimated sechedule maintenance cost for the Lexus ES350 is about $2350.00 over 3 years. For the average non luxury brand cars it is about $1100.00.

Dan, Like I said, I shopped the BMW, I BOUGHT the Genesis. The 535i best price was 57.3K, compared with 39.6K for the Genesis. I didn't think it was worth 18.3K more. Some people will, I wasn't one of them.

I went to the dealer where I bought the car for an oil change today. I have had the car for six and a half months. I had 1791 miles. I did not need an appointment which I found out when I called yesterday. They took me right away and finished in less than a half hour. The first oil change was free so I asked what it normally costs? I is normally $29.95. They did not have free latte but I didn't spend $70,000 for the car. They did have free regular coffee.

I'm down for the winter and will need an oil change before heading back to Ct in April. Which dealer did you use?

Rick Case is actually closer to me but I had a bad experience trying to lease from them so I won't do business with them under any circumstances.

Also had a bad experience with Lehman.

Does Rick Case in FL put pinstripes on all of its cars (which includes an Hyundai "H")? The Rick Case dealers in Georgia do that.

I don't know. I test drove one at Rick Case and didn't notice a pin stripe. The one I got at Coconut Creek has a pin stripe without an "H". I didn't even notice that until one of the guys at the "Miami Drive" event asked me about it.

When I was getting the oil change yesterday at Coconut Creek I was looking at a V8 and failed to notice if it had a pin stripe.

Hmm, I guess I'm getting old. I used to get paid to notice things.
