Screen Issue

When I have apple car play on, is there a way to have CarPlay full screen? I thought when I first purchased the car my car play was in full screen but now I've got a map over to the side of my screen when in CarPlay. Was this part of the recent updates? Any settings to change it to make my apple car play full screen and not have the random map to the right hand side?
