  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am going to change the oil myself this next time. :) Full synthetic 5-30W. OEM filter and I also bought a can of Seafoam.
How much should I put in the oil and how much in the gas tank? Half and Half???
This may or may not help with my intermittent sticking throttle problem...

Thanks..

Do not put ANY Seafoam in the crankcase. This will NOT address the 'sticky' throttle issue. The throttle is computer-controlled. If you need to do anything, consider getting something like a BG Intake cleaning. Seafoam in the crankcase will NOT address the throttle issue. By the way, how do you KNOW you have a throttle issue? Need more info.

It has all the indications of a sticking throttle. I spoke with them at the Hyundai dealership here in Daytona and they said I can try cleaning the throttle body by shooting in some carb cleaner with the engine running. They said that they sometimes get gunked up from the gas we use. Although I use a top-tier gas. Thank you for the response.

So as to my original question about the seafoam. I guess I'll just dump the whole can into a full tank of gas.

..and since the engine is GDI, Seafoam will NOT do much in the way of cleaning the intake valves. I tend NOT to use ANY fuel additives in my Genny as it IS a waste of money. How much is a can of SeaFoam now? $6, $7 or more? GDI engines direct-inject fuel into the combustion chamber and no fuel is sprayed into the incoming air charge so the valves NEVER get cleaned that way. ..If you use Top Tier fuel (Shell, Exxon, BP, etc) the cleaning agents in the fuel will do quite fine for the injectors. Take it back and get a refund, and put the $8 on an engine intake cleaning procedure ("BG" etc).
