  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seat belt warning

You do realize that you don't have to answer or reply to the thread if all you're going to do is ramble on about seat belt safety instead of providing an answer to the actual question?

Hey! I turn 60 this weekend. I'll ramble as much as I want to!!! :p :p

It happens on almost all automotive forums.....get use to it :D

Post a video doing 140mph+ and you'll see how much attention you'll get....ask me how I know :D

Our members are cool, nothing to worry about ;)

Guessing this forum is filled with a lot of old guys (50+) based on the amount of lecturing going on in this thread. It's almost as if I didn't say I was a proponent of seat belt use.

That being said, even if I wasn't......not sure why all you would care. Was just asking about the ability to potentially disable a noise that the vehicle makes, but yeah thanks for the soapbox comments guys.

I'm 30. Hardly an "old guy". Can you do as you please? Yes.

Can we call you an idiot for not wearing your seatbelt? Yes.

Are you an idiot for not wearing your seatbelt? Yes.

Will this thread change your mind about wearing it? No.

I was you 5 years ago, I didn't care and I remember the logic I used. One accident changed that on the track. There is simply too much to live for to not spend 2 seconds buckling up. I still participate in road rallies and we routinely go well over the speed limit so I don't quite fall into the category of a "take your fun deep into the woods and shoot it dead" type of forum member. Given my experience with high performance driving it is simply retarded to not be as safe as possible, especially with the number of distracted drivers on the road today.

Rant over.

Ok, that's better. Thank you!

I did answer your question in my very first post by telling you that Hyundai likely did not provide a method to disable the chime.

And, sorry - but I can't help to not reply when people post silly statements to justify why they don't need to wear a seat belt like:

"I'm from a small town originally. Like 1,000 people small with no stop lights. When I'm there, I don't need to wear the seat belt. It's more of a nuisance than anything. You never really get over 20 mph when you're going from place to place there."

Look - I really wouldn't care if anyone wore a seat belt (and actually like the concept of Darwinism), if it weren't for the sad fact that the bad judgment of other's can affect us all. This can be both personally (i.e.,when someone dies in an accident we are involved in when it could have been prevented with a simple seat belt) or more broadly through higher insurance premiums and potential for personal liability when someone suffers an injury that was easily preventable with a seat belt. Sorry if that is too much for you to want to consider...

Why exactly do you feel like you don't need to wear it? What about the facts you initially mentioned leads you to the conclusion that wearing the seatbelt is more of a nuisance than a benefit?

An ******* would just tell you that if you want the sound to go away all you have to do is buckle the seatbelt. I'm not an ******* so I won't say that though.

Guys I don't care what you think about seat belts in general. I do wear my seat belt 90% of the time like previously mentioned. If that's not enough for you? See my first sentence in this post.

Just wanted my question answered. I've gotten enough information to resolve that, thanks.

I never hear a seat belt chime.

Maybe it's because I put a 2 in. rigid extender on the fixed (center) end of the ass'y.

The rigid extender is a great product. The buckle is located very low in the seat. It will allow you to quick use the seatbelt when you are so inclined.

I survived a head on collision with with a chevy 3500 truck at 70+ mph. No airbag, seatbelt only, I'm a user.

I was rear ended by a drunk driver once.

I was saved by two things -I was driving a big Buick hog and I was wearing seat/shoulder belts.

When it was all over, I was lying flat on my back - the hinges on the big front bench seat were actually snapped.

Makes you a believer in belts.

So... don't mind the people wanting to provide you moral/legal statements. Here's the answer I've seen. Purchase one of these.

The 2013-ish Honda Accord one fits the 2015 Genesis. You can also buy a 'seat belt extender', cut off the buckle and leave that plugged in.

You know the disclaimers, die in a car accident without your seat belt on and it's not my fault. Good luck! :D

I agree with wearing the belt 100%. Size of town has zero relationship to wearing a seat belt. Small towns have many large accidents. 90% is not wearing the seat belt as designed or legislated.

Small towns have many large accidents.

There has literally not been a car accident in my town that I've ever heard of. I get the feeling your definition of a "small town" and mine are vastly different.
