  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Seat belt warning

I assume getting an extra buckle from the Parts Department or a crashed car would suffice to shut off the safety belt chime.

As a side note, I recommend checking state law and your auto insurance policy. Some will not pay for healthcare if a belt wasn't worn.

In my environs they call motorcyclists “organ donors.” But I digress....

Regarding the 2022 GV70, has anyone else noticed that if you remove your seatbelt while stopped but in Park, the seatbelt chime goes nuts and when you put the car in park, it does not stop? I understand it ringing while in gear but in Park, really?

NO! You need to have seatbelt on when you are in the car no matter what, it is the law and it could potentially save your life. I once left my phone in the passenger seat and car was parked inside garage, I went out to fish for it WITHOUT my seatbelt on and was involved in a 100 car pileup that also killed my dog!!

Sarcasm aside this thread is absolutely hilarious to read, one question sparking similar stories! I understand trying to advise people towards safe approach but come on...there's a difference between never wearing a seatbelt and not wearing one moving the car from driveway to street (cue story of how #generickaren once hit a patch of ice while backing up and ended up losing control and hit by a ferarri going 200mph and seatbelt could have saved her life).

More stories please!!

Some of you would have really enjoyed 1974 model year cars.

I'm from a small town originally. Like 1,000 people small with no stop lights. When I'm there, I don't need to wear the seat belt. It's more of a nuisance than anything. You never really get over 20 mph when you're going from place to place there. If I go on any sort of highway or interstate I wear it.
I have to admit sometimes I don't "click-it" when driving in my local area where 30 MPH is fast. That said, the seatbelt warning in my G80 is very subdued compared to other vehicles I've been in. My wife's Rav4 warning will drive you nuts.
