  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok; I turned on the "Steering Easy Access" and set the "Seat Easy Access" to "Extended" in the Convenience menu , but when I open the drivers door with the Engine Off and the car in Park the only thing that happens is that the steering wheel moves up about 1/2-inch. I'm not that tall @ 5'11", so the seat isn't anywhere near all the way back in my driving position. Any idea what may be wrong with the "Easy Access Functions" in my Design Edition or am I missing something obvious (in my C6 Corvette the seat moved all the way back and the steering wheel pulled all the way in when the door was opened)?
Enjoy,

It only works for shorter peeps. You are considered tall. Move the seat forward temporarily...it will work.

Hobbitses only.
I'm 5'8" and it doesn't work for me!

joschneider,
Thanks for the link!! I’m going to have to try setting memory #2 to a good exit position...

A good idea for most everyone. If you have to get out of the car while it is running, the auto system does you no good, but pushing the #2 button does. Get back in and hit #1 and off you go.

That is an interesting idea but I have my wife's settings as #2. Need a third memory position like some cars!

It is funny because my kid just asked what we are going to do when he can drive next year since in the G70 I am #1 and my wife #2 and in the Jeep she is #1 and I am #2. I told him I would buy him a car so it won't be my problem. He then said that me and mom will have to fight over who gets #2 in his car. Then I told him his car won't even have power seats so it won't be an issue for him. Then he honestly asked how you move the seats. I have clearly owned too many nice cars and he is spoiled lol I need to knock him down a few pegs. :)

please dont let him drive your car. a G70 is way too nice and too fast for a 16 year old to be driving around! Only reason Im alive today is because my first car had 160 horsepower and I couldnt kill myself doing stupid teenager stuff. Unless youre always in the passenger seat, then its a great idea because its encouragement to get a nice job and succeed so he can eventually afford something like the G70 one day ;)

We managed to do enough stupid stuff with crappy cars let alone a G70. Driving age is a good time to teach responsibility. My kids had to pay their insurance and buy their own cars. They were more inclined to take care of them and appreciate what you had to do to have one. They thought I was tough at the time but later realized why I did it and they did the same with their kids.

I did let my son drive my first Genesis though, but he was in his 40s at the time. Couldn't say no as I drove some of his cars in the past, like a Lexus and 3000GT.

160 hp? Hot damn! That thing must've been a rocket! My first car only had 92hp! Still didn't stop me from driving like a complete jackass. Haha.

You make a fair point Ed. You can get into trouble with both a nice car or a crappy one. I think the point is that as long as youre teaching your kid responsibility and pride in ownership, you cant go too wrong with how you go about it. I just dont want to see a 16 year old driving a 50k G70 that I worked my ass off to afford at 30 haha

I grew up here in the USA at the end of the first "muscle car" era (1973) and my first car was a 1960 MGA w/only 78hp, but I still had a blast doing 4 wheel drifts around the curve at the top of the hill on the road home from college & work... :D
Enjoy,

Question.. I had my 1 and 2 presets working perfectly (1 for my driving position and 2 for exit/enter car) for the last year.. then I discovered the "easy access" settings that this thread is about.. ugh. I immediately regretted it and switched it back to off, but now I can't get the steering wheel to link up along with the seat to my presets.. should I try the tilt reset ? (found it on another thread on this forum.. power off, tilt down 10 sec, back 10 sec then up) Thanks in advance !
