  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, fellow Genesis owners.
So happy to see this platform. I'm a damsel in distress. I think my 2009 Genny was shut off without being put in the park and now the steering wheel will still tilt up when I turn off the engine, but the seat won't slide back. Also, when I start the car, the steering wheel tilts into place but the seat stays where it is.
Does anyone know how I get the driver's seat to automatically move back when I turn off the car and move into place when I start my Genny? I've even tried to re-program the settings with the 1 button on the door to no avail. (It is driving me slightly bonkers. Someone help me, please. She has only about 75,000 miles on her and she is my most favorite vehicle that I have ever owned.)
Thanks so much.

The following video might help. Stuck limit switches can cause your problem, so rule that out first.

Video discussing drivers seat limit switches.
Thank you so very, very much for your prompt reply. 🙂🙃I checked out the video, but it doesn't address my issue, unfortunately.
My seat WILL move when I use the seat button, it just won't AUTOMATICALLY move when I turn the car on. I just discovered that it is called "Easy Seat Access" and am going to try this video on my old model to see if it works:
Thanks again for your prompt response and have a nice day.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Is there a dial on your console to access various menu settings, or is your ‘09 a lesser model?

Thanks again for your prompt response and have a nice day.

You're welcome (even though it did not help).

Sounds like you're on the right track.

I am curious to learn what happened. I wonder if the car might have changed into another user profile or Guest mode, that did not have the "Seat Easy Access" enabled.

Two options to try:

1. If you are the only driver, set memory 1 to your preferred driving position for seat, mirrors and steering wheel. Then set memory 2 to your preferred extended positions (seat and steering wheel) for easy exit. Toggle manually between the two positions as needed.

2. Start car and leave in Park.

Set seat, steering wheel and mirrors to your preferred driving settings. Next move the seat forward as far as it can go. Set Memory 1 button.

Next slide seat (only) to its most rearward position and again set Memory 1 button.

Finally, move seat to your preferred driving position and set Memory 1 button a third time.

Turn off and exit car. Re-enter and start car. Observe results.
