  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 57k oil change just completed the dealer noted the serpentine belt is getting close to needing replacement.

Anyone had to replace their's this early?

I think he is looking for a hefty labor bill. Modern belt replacement is recommended at 5 years, 100K min. My last BMW has 130K..no such wear issues. Can he prove the wear? ( without taking out his trusty pocket knife?)

He didn't suggest replacement at this service. just that it should be something to watch...
I can't really get a good view of the inside of the belt to check for cracks..
I thought this seemed early but it's not something you want failing on the road...

Possibly the harsh winters of Minnesota have something to do with the advanced wear? Just a thought.
