  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When I go to the Genesis owners site I get a message that it is time for a service.
I do my own services. Don't trust anyone else to do it correctly.
I enter the service in the "add manual" service area but still get the message.
Anyone know how to get the message to Genesis that the car has been serviced.
Customer care was no help.

You don't have 2 years complimentary service? Keep your receipts.

Yes, I have 3 years complimentary service but will do it myself as long as i can. That way I know it was done correctly.
And I do keep all the receipts and detailed records.
I would just like for MyGenesis to stop telling me I need to make an appointment for service. I fill out a manual entry but
that doesn't help.

Did you buy or lease? Out of warranty I always do my own work. With my warranty now, it always gets done at the “stealership” for warranty issues that may arise later. If you’re buying, I guess I can understand. A lease wouldn’t make sense.

This is probably Genesis’s way of tracking what they have done to get you to schedule your service. They will have email traffic regarding when they sent it to you to when you actually do the service. It’s completely for warranty work purposes. If you don’t go in, they could potentially decline a warranty claim because you failed to “service” your car at an authorized Genesis service department. You’ll continue to get them. I still get recall mail for a car I owned 4 years ago. Just delete it or ignore it, that’s my advice.

Cheers

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has ruled, without any ambiguity or reservation, that required maintenance does not have to be performed by the manufacturer (or their dealer) in order to maintain the warranty, so long as the required maintenance meets the specifications of the manufacturer. Any demand by a manufacturer that service required to maintain a warranty must be performed by them or their dealers is a violation of US Anti-Trust laws.

Proof of non-dealer maintenance is required, such as receipts, as are accurate contemporaneous records of mileage and date that service was performed. I keep my receipts, plus the UPC code from the OEM filter boxes. I record the dates and mileage of each maintenance item in a spreadsheet, and also record them at www.myhyundai.com

Thanks Mark, I do it exactly like you do it. I get all my filters from the dealer, and Mobil 1 oil from from whoever has it at the best price.
And I use a spreadsheet with every thing I do even down to checking the air pressure in the tires. I still enter the services on the MyGenesis site
even thought they ignore it.
