  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Should we take this offer?

First post but a long-time viewer; thanks for the excellent info contained in these posts - great, helpful community!

I have driven a 2009 3.8 Genesis (Black, premium/tech package; yes I have the wing badges) since November, 2008. I live in Central Pennsylvania (the Blizzak's made all the difference and we really have had no issues with winter driving despite thinking "this was a bad idea" our first winter before investing in the swow tires). We have been completely satisfied with our Genesis, however, we put a lot of miles on the car for work and we're up to 57,000. So we are interested in trading in for a 2012 with essentially the same options. So here's the best offer we've entertained so far, and I'd really appreciate any feedback from you as to whether or not it's worth taking. I realize that location affects pricing and I have done plenty of online research regarding resale prices, visited multiple dealers, checked Blue Book and Black Book listings... but, again, I'd really like to know how this sounds to you:

2012 3.8 Genesis (Titanium with black interior, tech/premium packages): $39,500.
Offer for our trade-in (great shape but 57K miles): $20,000.

Thoughts? Thank you!
RJ

If $39500 does not include $1500 loyalty rebate then price is great.
If it does, then you will be better off using Circle price ($39788-$1500=$38288)

Thanks for the link; I sent them a request... looks quite promising. I've seen some of your other posts directing members to their site. Any hidden costs that you are aware of (handling, etc)? Hoping they can make a strong offer on the trade-in as well. Certainly willing to travel to North Bethesda MD for that price...

BBQ- I was going to suggest Fitzmall too-but I know you guys must already think I work there(LOL)!

All I know about Fitzmall is:
1. Sold me my CPO Genesis
2. Their advertised price is before taxes + tags+ doc fee.
3. Bested all my local dealers on price (100 mile radius)... was worth a drive.

Best chance... take a KBB estimate print-out with your title on your Genesis (on trade in value) for competitive value.

edit: link changed - wrong specs

Thank you again for the info; haven't driven off their lot in our new '12 yet but I did contact Fitz by email; they called me back quickly, they made an offer over the phone for our trade in and, combining their price for the new Genesis and their offer on the our trade-in, they beat our next best offer (the one noted in my first post) by nearly $3,000. In addition to our town in PA - the Harrisburg/Lebanon market - we also visited dealers in Central and Suburban Philly both in person and online. I feel a little guilty because I did feel the local dealer (Ciocca, with a brand new dealership in Lebanon) was working very hard to accomodate us... but $3,000 is worth the trip to the DC. Hope my next post will be in the "price paid" or "pics" threads!

Thanks again!

Fitzmall - lol!

They're pretty incredible on pricing - not just for Hyundai, but for all their brands (volume is their game).

For anyone within a 2-6 hour drive, it's well worth getting your vehicle from Fitzmall - that is if your local dealers won't come close to Fitzmall's price.

When a sibling bought her Subie a no. of years ago - first got an email offer from Fitzmall and asked the local dealers to match the price and one did.

Probably the easiest and quickest car buying exp. anyone in my family has had.

It's too bad Fitzmall doesn't have any German luxury brands.

That is more than I paid for my 2012 4.6 here in Atlanta with Circle pricing. That doesn't even include the $1500 rebate. Keep negotiating or keep looking.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Have to say that the (new) local Hyundai dealer (Ciocca Hyundai, Lebanon PA - taking over for Frederick Hyunda which is no longer carrying the brand) did come through and matched the Fitzmall price. Obviously we'd rather go local for all the follow-up and service, so we're satisfied. Gadget in ATL - sounds like you got a great deal but I really don't think we were going to find that kind of value in this market (maybe it's a regional thing, maybe it's still supply and demand as the 12's are still a little sparse in this vicinity). Anyway, we're satisfied and looking forward to our new car! Thanks again for your info in response to my (first) post... saved a couple thousand bucks because of it!

Good job- Fitzmall comes through again! Gosh-these dealers must hate Fitz.

Congrats... well done.

That's how to take the wind out of their sails... letting Ciocca know you were ready to sign with Fitzmall showed them you had the better position and option in the art of negotiation... leaving them will little room.

There's no reason to be 'victimized' by the car salesman.... well played.

Where's the pics?
