  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2015 genesis 3.8 AWD. Out of no where side mirror for passenger side is making loud clicking noise and does not fold. This never happened to me before. Any idea what is causing this problem and will it cover under warranty?

Should be covered if you are still under warranty. Sounds like a broken gear or whatever they use to move the mirror.

The car is 2015 and i have 61,000 miles on it you still think it will be covered?

Not my call, but the dealer may be of some help. Warranty ran out at 60.000 miles. I've heard of some covering things when it is close. Certainly worth a visit to find out.

If it is what causes that? Just wear and tear since mirrors fold in and out evertime i unlock/lock my car?

That can do it over time, especially in extreme temperatures. It it was iced up overnight it could be strained. You can set them not to move also.

Usually not wear & tear—although eventually all plastic gears will wear down. More typically a retractable side mirror will get damaged via vandalism (I've had that occur on other vehicles) or when something obstructs the movement, causing the stripping of the gear teeth or gears jump a track.

Ask the service advisor to contact Hyundai Customer Service for "good will" assistance. You are just barely outside the warranty that, I think, Hyundai should help out.

2015 genesis 3.8 passenger mirror | eBay

get one on ebay, they are super easy to swap.. inside the car behind the mirror is a plastic cap, pop it off, remove the 3-4 screws and unclip the wire harness, remove mirror, replace with ebay mirror and tighten it all back up.. 10 minutes tops.

This is a Hyundai Accent, but the process is the same:

Is it OEM?

make sure you get one for your model with whatever options your mirror has (BSM, Tint, Heated, LED, etc.)

don't worry about the color, the painted cap on your should be easy to pop off and swap.. though if you can find your color then it's obviously easier.

I can't do everything for you, search ebay for your make/model and listings that say OEM.. it's really not a big deal. if you are in SoCal I will do the swap for you if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, I know not everyone is mechanically inclined..

And it's the whole assembly with motors and gears?

the mirror isn't serviceable, like most parts.. you can't buy just the innards,

so yes, this is a whole mirror; direct swap, 10-15 min job as I stated above.
