  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today I noticed after a minute of driving that my drivers side mirror was stuck in the downward position, like it does when backing up the car. I used my buttons to move it back into the right place...but then when I got home I put the car in reverse to check it out and now they don't angle down like they did before. If its not better tomorrow I guess I will have to call about it. Anybody else had this problem?

I took it in a few weeks ago because I had the issue where no sound was coming out of the stereo....they pulled the fuse for 20 minutes and that fixed that.

Bought the car in August.

Ok that is probably it...should have checked the manual. I guess the fact that it got stuck in the down position led me to think it was something wrong...but maybe I accidentally moved the switch when I was backing up. I will check on it at some point...right now its pouring outside!

I have seen this problem on my 2010 Genesis 3.8l. It happens intermittently, maybe once every week or two. The workaround is to put the car in park and hit the memory button that sets your mirror, seat position etc. That will move the mirror back to the original position. I have the mirror controller swith set to the left so when I back up the passengar mirror angles down. However it is supposed to return to its original position when you the transmission is not in reverse.

I have the same problem with my 2012 R-spec. I have the switch to the right so both mirrors dip. Every few weeks one mirror, left or right, will stick in the down position. It's easy enough to manually bring it back up, but it's annoying. Looks like it's been a bug in the software for some time. I've tried to notice if there's any sequence that I'm doing that causes the problem but it seems random. Has anyone found a fix for this other than disabling the dipping function?

Features of your vehicle
Reverse parking aid function (if equipped)
When you shift the shift lever to the R (Reverse) position, the outside rearview mirror(s) will move downward to aid reverse parking. According to the position of the outside rearview mirror switch (1), the outside rearview mirror(s) will operate as follows:
Left/Right :When the remote control outside rearview mirror switch is selected to the left/right position, both outside rearview mirrors will
move downward.
Neutral :When the remote control outside rearview mirror switch is
placed in the middle position, the outside rearview mirrors
will not operate.
NOTICE
The outside rearview mirrors will automatically revert to their original positions under the following conditions:
1. Ignition switch is turned to the LOCK or ACC position.
2. Shift lever is moved to any position except R.
3. Remote control outside rearview mirror switch
If your mirrors don't work like this it's time to make an appointment at your dealers service department.

I've got the same problem in my R Spec. Occasionaly the left mirror will stay in the down position after backing. Usually when I park and then shut the car off quickly. I keep my switch in the left position, not that it should make a difference.

As stated, I just put the car in park and push the memory button. Or if I'm driving, I just manually move the mirror and it will work fine next time I park.

Mine will occasionally 'stick" downward as well.... usually the driver's side. I had been manually moving it upward, but I like the memory button fix better. Thanks guys.

Definitely not something I'm too concerned over. Im out of warranty now, so it's something I can live with :)

Every once in a while, it looses the seat position when I press the memory button to get the mirror back, and then I wind up adjusting both the mirrow *and* the seat!
