  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi.

I have 2012 Genesis 3.8 base model. I read on the manual that the mirrors on the side tilt down when in reverse in some models. It doesn't happen on mine at all, and I was wondering if it just doesn't happen on my model, or if there's something kind of fuse blown? Thanks.

On my 09 premium v6, if the mirror switch is switched to the right then only that mirror will tilt down when in reverse. However if the mirror switch is all the way to the left then both mirrors tilt down when in reverse. Hope this helps.

Mine doesn't do anything, no matter the position. I think is because the base model doesn't offer that option.

Correct, Base Trim model does not have that feature.

After having my car for almost 8 months, I though it has only an option to tilt both mirrors at the same time! which is kinda pointless in my opinion...
I hope it will tilt right mirror only when I move the switch to the right.

My bimmer has that option and I loved it.

Speaking of which I sometimes have found them in the folded position while the car is in park.
What would have caused them to do that, does anyone know?

double tap the key fob lock to fold-in the mirrors.
double tap the key fob unlock to unfold the mirrors.

^
Now I know.
Thanks

Ok, I just checked...it doesn't matter which side I move the switch; right or left - both mirrors are tilting!

Guys with (preferable 2013 rspec or not).... can anyone can confirm if you move the switch to the right, only right mirror is tilted?

Thanks in advance.

Dareck,
mine is the same way. Switch being left or right doesn't matter as both mirrors tilt. I believe someone mentioned that on an earlier model, switching to the right tilts only the right mirror. I cannot recall which year it was though.

Yep, in the Canadian version.

Just kidding. Mine does the same as well

2012 or older the switch has two modes.

Thanks a lot guys!
I wish we could somehow change that, just to tilt right mirror only. Why the hell would they let both mirrors goes down? it's useless for us (left side steering wheel)

@Danny
You almost had me! ....I didn't scroll down, so I couldn't see you were yanking my chain :D

In the 4.6 tech 2009, the mirrors works exactly as you describe, in the 2012 R-Spec it also has an auto fold option in the car settings, that we do not have in 2013-14 either!

I think the only way we may be to change these settings is via the engineering menu, but alas, we still need to need to figure it out on the 13-14 tech...

I'll be talking to a dealer about this, hopefully they will be able to "adjust" it, I'm pretty sure they can....I consider it as a safety hazard.

For example: when parallel parking on the right hand side of the street, while in reverse pulling into the parking spot, you turn the steering wheel right, so the front of the car sticks out into the street, the left mirror is tilted down and then I can't see the cars coming behind me that can potentially hit the front of my car.

If it was a bimmer - I'd fix it myself with a laptop and GT1 program ;)

I could always cut a wire and make a permanent fix
