  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I can't find how to disable the tilting side mirrors-no center position on the switch, nor menu item to disable. Dealer doesn't know nor does the Equus hotline.

The tilt is more than I want to see.

I assume this feature does not exist, but dealer thinks the 2014 has this option.

Any ideas??

What do you mean by side mirror tilting? are you talking about when the shifter in in reverse? If so, did you try looking at the vehicle settings which can be set on the NAV screen?

T_E,
If you look at your side mirror control on the inside of your drivers door, I think you will see either the left or right selector switch is on (lighted). Which ever one is "on", just push that same selector button and it should turn "off" and neither side should be on now. This is the setting where the mirrors don't tilt when the 2012 Equus is put in reverse.
Hope this helps...

Thanks, PSL...you are right! Simply hitting the right or left selector when it is lit turns off the light and the mirror tilting while in reverse.

Funny that the manual, dealer and Equus hotline were of no help on this simple issue.

Yea, I was perplexed about this when I got my 2012 Equus too. I just kept fiddling with it until Ta-da!

I, too, was perplexed by this. My side view mirrors would not tilt in reverse gear as received new from the dealer. I had gotten used to the parking tilt with my Lexus LS 430, and I missed the feature.

On my first trip for regular service, I was provided with a Genesis loaner. It was annoying to find that the mirrors on the Genesis DID tilt. How could this be - it works on a Genesis and not on an Equus?

After I got my car back from the service visit, the mirrors began to tilt. Well, I figured, the technician must have fixed the problem. Nope. Just as was pointed out, it all depends on the position of that switch.

So, it seems, RTFM (read the ... manual) is not always the best advice. Thank goodness for forums like this one.
