  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Attached photo shows blotchy spotted finish on the chrome-colored finish around side windows. I don’t know if there is a film on it. Can I aggressively polish this trim to fix the aging finish? 2022 Prestige midnight black G70.

Some rubbing compound on a rag and a little elbow grease cleaned mine right up.

Thanks a lot. I didn’t want to break any unknown film or coating the factory might have applied.

The dealer replaced all of it, both sides with updated trim @ no charge. Looks so nice now! They changed the left front strut also to fix a banging noise that I was hearing going over manhole covers and small bumps. They gave me a G80 to drive while it was in the shop and I couldn't wait to get my G70 back...lol

The dark chrome on the Sport Prestige models has a tint film, you can restore the shine by buffing it out but it will be a brighter chrome, not the dark tint.

Yes, I know that. The updated dark chrome is not the same as the original dark chrome. It looks beautiful and matches the rest of the dark chrome on the car. It still looks as nice as the day that they installed it.

Enjoy that new chrome, hopefully that clouding won't start up. I just wrapped mine in gloss black since I don't have a dealer that's convenient to me.

Thanks! I had thought about wrapping it also. I know last year the dealers would mask it off and polish it. I asked about it when I went in to have them listen to the banging noise and that's when they said they were replacing chrome with new and improved so I had them do it.

I will say that they pushed the rubber down too far on the bottom of the little glass on the rear door and I snuck a feeler gauge behind it and pulled it up to where it should be. Also they didn't tuck the rubber flap behind the vertical gloss black trim on the B - pillars so I brought it back and had them fix it. I didn't see it till I got home. You can see how nice it looks though!

Yeah, that new chrome is a nice look, too bad you have to go over everything 3x whenever a dealer touches your car :(

Yes, I also found a small chip from the paint on the edge of the front wheel opening that i know wasn't there before. Instead of starting a pissing contest I just ordered a Dr ColorChip kit and touched it up myself. Im overdue to hand rub the paint and apply Chemical Guys ceramic. If I find any other chips I'll touch them up as well before applying the ceramic. Unfortunately chips happen if you drive you car.
