  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sigh...A week into ownership and i already need to drop off the car....

Do you guys have a link to what is supposed to be inspected? I'd like to do my own 152 point inspection. Hard to figure out what they missed if I don't know what they're supposed to be looking for LOL . Thanks if anyone can provide that

I'm taking the car back today as they could not replicate the problem, stating they only heard a faint flutter but could not pinpoint the area /cause of the issue. I'm off work on Friday so I'm going to drive there in the AM when they open and drive with a tech

How did you make out, Dwil?

If you can't get it resolved with the dealer, call Hyundai Motor America customer service and open a case. HMA is the one who offers the warranty and is ultimately responsible. Dealers can only spend so much time trying to fix something without getting any reimbursement from HMA.

I too have a strange low speed buffeting/fluttering sound at about 20 mph, but it’s usually after it rains and only for a couple of minutes.

I have a higher tolerance for cabin noise, coming from an old Lexus IS though. Lol

No resolution yet, but I stopped at the dealer today and showed my service writer a video on my phone that I recorded earlier this week as I left my house for work. He asked for a copy but it was way to big to email to him, so I went ahead and uploaded on YT. You can really hear it with the center arm rest open. On another note, I'm also hearing a weird clicking noise when turning the steering wheel. This could be heard in the video as well.

Enjoy!

This almost sounds like debris fell into the blower motor fan. If it hasn't been done yet, have them pull the cabin filter out and feel around/vaccuum in there. Does it make the noise with the HVAC system off? It's very easy to do yourself. There's two "buttons" on either side of the glove box, unscrew them, and pull the glovebox strut off gently from the right side... glove box will fall all the way down... then the cabin filter cover is right there, it pulls from the left side/hinges on the right.

Good suggestion, thank you. I'll have them look at it on Thursday. I did forget to add that the noise fades to a light shutter once the car has been driven for a while and it warms up.

I do get the value of the extended warranty with CPO. That said, part of the certification process is a multi-point inspection of the vehicle. What's the point of paying a premium for a like new car with extended warranty if they never did the due-diligence of making sure its in good working order?
I traded in a Certified 2014 Lexus GS 350 F Sport for a so called Certified 2015 Genesis 3.8 Ultimate. The Genesis just had a Certified sticker and I never received any certification of what was done to the vehicle. I received several documents from the Lexus dealer on what was done on the vehicle and I also received two years of complementary maintenance.

If it didn't say CPO or Certified Pre-Owned, I would be very suspicious. Most dealers don't seem to do a very good job of inspecting the car, but will fix stuff that you find wrong soon after purchase.

That was certainly my experience with Jim Ellis. But Genesis seriously needs to get a handle on this. In the first 6 weeks of owning my car, it was with the dealer for 4 weeks. Ultimately, they did a great job. And they are very good - providing valet service and loaners. But really, I'd just rather have this not be an issue to begin with. The trouble is with the volume they do, I don't think they can manage. At least in bigger cities, Hyundai needs to set up separate dealer service stations and trained Genesis specialists. It does however reduce competition, so there's that.

The CPO inspection problem has been around for many years, since the 2009 Hyundai Genesis.

Genesis is in the process of requiring separate dealerships for Genesis Motors. According to recent reports, only those dealers who agree to set up a physically separate dealership within a couple of years, will be allowed to sell the 2019+ Genesis models (at their current Hyundai dealership locations). But not sure it will solve the CPO inspection problem.
