  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Since new I've had an ongoing issue with channel 400 (Carlin's Corner) dropping out. The audio will drop out randomly for a half second or so throughout the time I'm listening to this particular channel. The dealer first replaced the shark fin antenna and when the problem continued after doing so, they replaced the head unit. I just got the car back on Friday and to my dismay, channel 400 continues to drop out.

At this point there is nothing left to replace so I'm beginning to wonder if this is just endemic with the system in this vehicle in this upper channel range.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm shocked that the dealer changed your hardware because ONE XM station was having dropouts. That service manager should be fired. Are you sure the dropouts aren't part of Carlin's shtick?

Hmmm I don't listen to 400, but I generally only notice drop-outs on the channels I listen to when crossing under overpasses or being in the garage.

Never had good luck with XM with several car I've owned...... poor quality sound and drop outs...... XM for me is a big waste of money

If you are only losing one channel, sounds more like a Sirius issue.

Al of the lower channels (below about 250) are dropping out but in an different way than 400.

With 400 it's a half-second or so, randomly, with no change in the display. On the lower channels they all drop out but do so for anywhere from 30 seconds to about 2 minutes. When these channels come back on, the display shows in blue on the "i" line one of the following (Weak Signal) (No Signal) (Busy) and is always accompanied by "Featured Favorites Updated"at the very top of the display.

The change of head unit appears to have solved the problem on the lower channels but 400 continues to drop out.

In the past few weeks I have been getting regular drop-outs with the indicator showing "busy."
I have also noticed that weather data is often very slow - that comes via SiriusXM also

Finally found somebody else with this issue. Only channel 316 seems to cut out frequently for a second intermittently. No problems with the standard channels (1-100+). Has nothing to do with location or weather. Like OP, seems to occur only in these higher channels (300+)??? Not going to have my equipment changed (didn't work per OP) and I'm not gonna waste my time with the dealer. Thinking most likely a Sirius issue.

I'm going to try a signal refresh. Sirius claims it's like rebooting a computer. Hope it works but I think this is something I'm going to have to live with....

Hey epo010835:

I tried sending you a pm but your inbox is full. Did you ever solve the XM radio high channel sound drop outs? Thanks in advance.
