  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sirius XM Malfunction

Spent an hour on the phone with XM idiots today, same crap happing still, they said they couldn't just delete the traffic data , most frustrating call of my life, could hardly understand their English, and they just read what's on their screen and very little of it made sense.

I have a '19 G80 3.3T and this started happening to me as well about a week ago.
When I first start up the car, I can change channels on the SiriusXM, but after a few minutes, the channel locks. Sometimes the display will change to the new station, but the channel does not actually change. Last night I got completely locked out of the SiriusXM yet it was still playing. If I selected SiriusXM from the "Home" page, the cursor would freeze for 12 seconds before allowing me to make another selection. If I hit the "SiriusXM" button on the dash, nothing would happen.
A few days ago, the navigation locked up when this happened and even froze on my heads up display.
I've tried turning the car off and opening the door to fully shut off the radio, but this has no effect. I must exit the vehicle with the fob for the radio to work again. All other audio sources are functional.
Perhaps this is a software glitch c/t this model.

I have a 2018 G80. Same problem . Genesis blames Sirius, Sirius blames Genesis and nothing gets fixed. I have read about lack/ memory in the Genesis and am thinking that may be the reason so many are just not working. Mine is under warranty and that could explain the lack of enthusiasm to fix. Looked at the new MDX and when you look at the dashboard functions it is like comparing a 720 to 4K tv.

My Service Advisor made it sound like they needed my "numbers" to address the issue. It seems they may have disabled something, whether it be Sirius Data or something else, to stop the lockups rather than actually repairing the system at this time.
Dealer confirmed my satellite radio I’d and then unsubscribed my data services (gas stations, sports, traffic) with SiriusXM. This look a few days to happen, but things seem to be back to normal. Not sure if they’re working on a sw fix so the data services will be functional or not.

I called SirusXM on Tuesday. It took 20 min b4 the Supv admitted this to be a "known" problem. He also suggested I go to the dealership and have them replace my system - actually said "not my problem". Not helpful at all. In calling Hyundai back today, I was told the issue should be resolved by Mar 26th and that a credit will be applied to my SiruxXM account. We shall see.....

Same issue here. Dealer says Genesis is working on a solution. How could it take months for them to get a solution. This is a serious dent in the Genesis brand!

I was experiencing all the issues with XM, NAV and radio freezing up which has been happening probably for the last 2 month or so. For some reason I called XM last week and was unable to cancel my Travel Link so decided to wait on a fix soon and apparently everything seems good now. I’ve noticed yesterday driving the vehicle that my radio was working fine without any issues and I’m able to change stations in XM, see the Travel Link info and not having problems in freezing infotainment. Hopefully Genesis was able to have a resolution with XM to fix the problems in our vehicles.

I have been experiencing the same head unit issues over the last several months - I put in an email to Genesis explaining the issue 3 weeks ago - well, today I finally received a response from them. Genesis says SiriusXM put in a fix on 23 March. If the head unit is not responding to the fix perform the following to the vehicle:

Step 1: Please do an engine cycle by turning the vehicle fully on and off 3 times in a row.

Step 2: Press and hold the reset button for a second or longer to reset the head unit. (The reset button looks like a small hole and can be located above the CD slot next to the Sirius XM symbol)

I just implemented these 2 steps this morning and - BINGO - my freezing SiriusXM issue has finally cleared. I didn't have to make any adjustments to my SXM subscription (still receiving traffic updates via Travel Link) in order for the unit to start working properly once again. Having said all this I haven't tested the Navigation system yet - at this point I will assume it's also functioning properly once again - only time will tell.

I hope this bit of information is beneficial to someone out there experiencing the same Genesis/SXM/Navigation issues I had been since early February.

Cheers.

Bought 2019 G80 3.3t on 12-21-20. Xm worked perfectly for about 6 weeks.

After a few minutes, xm will not allow channel change. I have to reset the system to get it to work, but the problem just recurs. Is there a fix?
I had the same problem but after you reset the system have XM send a refresh signal and that worked for me.

The latest April 2021 update is now available:

Notice | Official Genesis Navigation Update Website

The release notes only refer to New Features and make no mention of any bug fixes. Hopefully it resolves everything including the XM preset numbering issue.

It's April 17, and I haven't had any problems for a few weeks now. And I didn't do anything to fix the problem. "Someone" must have fixed it!

Purchased 2021 GV80 4 weeks ago and tonight Sirius would not change channels. Is it best to deal with the dealer as a warranty item?

That's what I would do. I don't see how the Sirius signal would affect that. Did you try a voice command? If it is something like a steering wheel switch it should change by alternate methods.

Yesterday, Sep. 21, 2021, I received a U.S. snail-mail letter from XMSirius giving me a $55.00USD credit. Checking my XM account now, I do see the credit. It appears to be compensation for the Genesis DIS/XMSirius snafu during spring of 2021 documented in this thread. Nice gesture!

I have posted this before. I had all these same problems with my 2018 G80 Sport purchased in feb. 2021.
If you have your Sirius subscription changed to stations only with no data such as traffic etc. all will work fine.

Your info is out of date. They solved that problem. You can have data (traffic) again with no problems.

2019 G90 17,325 miles: unable to activate NAV Traffic / Travel Link. Dealer replaced head unit, problem remained. Contacted Sirius and able to have ticket escalated to engineering within Sirius. Their fix was to deactivate radio, remove NAV Traffic / Travel Link from my subscription, tech activated a dummy radio with my service, waited 5 minutes, switched service back to my radio ID without NAV or Travel Link, then they added both services back and all is working for one week. Yesterday XM locks up, you have to reboot, etc.; the fix was removing Travel Link from subscription. XM Music and NAV Traffic are compatible with my 2019 G90, Travel Link causes it to lockup.

2017 G90 Sirius radio locked up today. First problem in 5 years. AMand FM are fine. XM plays for about 15 seconds then goes silent. Sound comes back after about 10 seconds and stays stays on for about 5 seconds. Goes silent and never returns until the engine is restarted. Rebooted head unit, no help. Once XM sound is goes dead unable to select XM from menue. Sirius says talk to Genesis. I’m open to suggestions. Symptoms seem familiar to problems reported here last year.
