Sirius XM Malfunction

2017 G90 Sirius radio locked up today. First problem in 5 years. AMand FM are fine. XM plays for about 15 seconds then goes silent. Sound comes back after about 10 seconds and stays stays on for about 5 seconds. Goes silent and never returns until the engine is restarted. Rebooted head unit, no help. Once XM sound is goes dead unable to select XM from menue. Sirius says talk to Genesis. I’m open to suggestions. Symptoms seem familiar to problems reported here last year.

Try having the XM Radio refreshed and then immediately due a hard reset of the head unit by disconnecting and waiting a few minutes and reconnecting the battery, please note that you may have to reset somethings in the car after doing so, just follow the owners manual instructions.

If this does not work the XM model may have to be replaced which by the length of time that you have owned the car may very well be the problem. If any cost is involved plead your case with being an XM Loyal customer or see If the dealership will work with you, this is providing that there is no warranty coverage.

I had this happen in one of my Lexus vehicles. Seems being in the garage limits the satellite feed. When I pulled out of the garage, Sirius kept going in and out so I stopped and turned off the car for a minute. Turned it back on and it works great. Can't say that's the issue, but it was for me.

Yes I agree and I have had this happen before. But this time it’s different. It never recovers and stays on.

2019 G90 17,325 miles: unable to activate NAV Traffic / Travel Link. Dealer replaced head unit, problem remained. Contacted Sirius and able to have ticket escalated to engineering within Sirius. Their fix was to deactivate radio, remove NAV Traffic / Travel Link from my subscription, tech activated a dummy radio with my service, waited 5 minutes, switched service back to my radio ID without NAV or Travel Link, then they added both services back and all is working for one week. Yesterday XM locks up, you have to reboot, etc.; the fix was removing Travel Link from subscription. XM Music and NAV Traffic are compatible with my 2019 G90, Travel Link causes it to lockup.

I have a 2019 G90 and I started having the same problem two days ago. I am still trying to find a solution. Thank you for posting.

It appears that I among the many having issues as of Nov 1. Was working fine on Oct 31, went out in Nov 1. Wondering what changed over the day, likely regarding services sent through XM. I'll try and call with this info and hopefully not get passed off through several different techs.
