  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I’m certainly no expert at getting SiriusXM deals, however...

Yesterday I called them to cancel service on one of the three cars that I’m paying on for their satellite radio. It was impossible to get a live agent, so I signed in on their website. To make a long story short, I didn’t cancel the one car, but selected a $60/yr package instead.

No doubt there are better deals to be had if you are an expert in their pricing games. My only point here is that it couldn’t hurt to have a look at their website and evaluate your current deal with them. I’m sure lots of customers are bailing out on them during these Covid times.

I've been doing that for almost a decade now, I call them to cancel every 5-6 months, they offer me a deal, I say no, then they look up again to see what else there is, then I say yes to the second deal which is even cheaper.
Their full prices are high for what you get, I only listen to rock, they used to have Buzzsaw which was awesome, then it was gone when they merged, so screw full price.

Yes, most of us have been doing this for a long time. I’m merely saying that now is a good time for everybody to have a look at their subscription. Given that I have an unlimited data plan on my iPhone, I don’t critically need satellite radio anyway because I can stream plenty of Internet radio on stations like TuneIn. Satellite radio’s days are numbered

I never see Streaming affecting Satellite Radio in the big scheme of things. I have used streaming, It's a pain to have to connect the phone, hunt a app, tune radio to correct menu etc. Even with voice search it is just not user friendly. I am not paying $50K + for a car then having a phone cord draped across my dash to have music.
To each his own, but turning on the car, XM begins playing and I can change stations every few minutes with a touch of the steering wheel button is so much easier. And phone supplied NAV is even more trouble than radio and once again that stupid looking phone cord on a new car to provide info? Maybe for a small percent of techies but never for the masses.

I'm going to try the online method. I usually call them every few months to get the reduced rate on both of our cars which is a pain.

When I start my car the radio starts playing with one of my favorite stations. How long does it take you to connect your streaming? May not be so bad on a two hour trip but for a ten minute ride to pick up a pizza, XM is just fine for me.
Nice to have choices.

It doesn’t take long at all to connect a smartphone to stream audio in the car. Also, I listen to streaming in the bedroom. There is a whole wide world of music and talk on Internet radio.
