  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Site Connectivity Issues

Yes sir-for about a week now-sometimes I cannot connect at all-have to come back.

if it was a DNS issue, then most of us would be having a simultaneous problem, no?

Seems more like a shared space issue to me. That happens a lot with hosting companies....
Each ISP has their own DNS servers in addition to global DNS servers. Sometimes it takes time for DNS changes (as a result of a server move, etc) to get propagated to all DNS servers, depending on several factors including caching.

^ Correct. I was mote referring to the overall DNS server. Not our local ISP DNS servers lol

Someone messed up the TTL portion haaha

The server administrator asked me to get the following information:

"Please ask your visitors having issues to provide a tracert result at the time of connectivity issues, so that I may troubleshoot better and check for any network related issue involved in this."

How to provide a tracert

Thank you

I had more problems connecting this morning using AT&T (Bellsouth DSL). I could connect fine using a VPN through to my company internet connection (probably different ISP).

But things seem OK for now, but I suspect that there will be more problems. On this past Tuesday, AT&T had a complete internet outage due to DNS server problems that may be related to this.

Trace complete.

I have had connectivity problems most of this evening until just recently. I could not even ping the genesisowners,com domain, so tracer does no good. Even when I could not ping the domain name, I can ping the ip address 74.50.17.114. When I put https://74.50.17.114 in browser window I get this:

Index of /

* cgi-bin/
* forums/
But I don't get anywhere when I select either of those.

We made some server changes about 20 hours ago. Are things better?

More changes have been made. Has the site been down at all since yesterday?

I had a lot of connection problems to this site since a few days before you started this thread (mostly intermittent), but no problems since you made server changes. But I don't recall if the problems stopped a day so before the server change, or only stopped after the server change. But definitely no problems now.
