If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Size of Aftermarket rims

22's will fit on the Genesis, but will give a terrible ride.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It would be "ok" according to other owners opinions, but I would recommend 19", but I'm a performance freak, so putting a 19 on would probably IMO be the best wheel to tire ratio for performance on this specific car. It would put you with a 235 40 19 for a tire. Less sidewall, but enough left to not hinder performance and would look better also.

Have a look at the "Replacing Stock rims and tires" thread...

Web sites like tirerack.com and Bigwheels.net are set up so that you can determine fitment. Not only can you determine fitment for the wheels they have, but you can get worst-case wheel diameters, offsets, and widths. Once you determine those values, you can go to many other sites and plug in those values directly into their search engines. In addition to fitment, you'll have to check for overall wheel diameter so as to keep your odometer within tolerance. There are calculators for that at http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp. I suspect that for a 20" rim, you'll end up with a PXXX/30R20 (very low profile) tire if you want an overall wheel diameter that closely matches the original 18" rims with P225/50R18 Dunlops.

BTW, I finally settled on purchasing a set of 19"x8.0" TSW Estoril chrome wheels with low profile P245/40YR19 Falken FK42 tires from Bigwheels.net. The TSW wheels are identical in appearance to the picture of Petrol Nixon wheels posted below. The wheels come in at US$163/wheel and the tires are US$205/tire. Mounting and balancing is free

As I mentioned in the other thread, the weight of the new 19" wheel/tire combination is about 5-7 lbs greater than the OEM 18" wheel/tire and within 2% of OEM wheel/tire diameter; I don't think the additional weight is playing much of a factor in the feel of the suspension. The ride is somewhat "firmer" but I attribute this due to the lower profile tires. Cornering performance seems to be better with the new wider/lower profile tires. I think my choice ended up being a good balance between improved appearance and ride performance. Didn't quite have the "guts" to go all the way up to 19"x10" Estoril rims which have a wider chrome lip or the 20" rims for that matter

Here's a picture of the wheels I selected. In the other thread, you'll find a picture of 9 other rims, all available in 19"

hey Bernie can u take a pic of your car with the wheels on it so i can get another look at a genesis with those rims, thanks

i like those rims also (TSW Estoril chrome) but im also looking to have whatever rims i get in chrome but i want the spoke custom painted to match my genesis & just leave in between the spokes & the lip chrome

I just ordered 20" Forgiato wheels staggered fitment for my 4.6 Genesis, and the tire size that I went with was 245-40-20 in the front and 275-35-20 in the rear. Those tire deminsions will match almost perfectly with the stock 18" wheels and tires that come with the car.

looking forward to seeing pics with that much meat on the back. I can't imagine a good reason to do it, for anywhere but the track, as the drag will slow acceleration and hurt fuel milage; but it should look great.

It will give the car a much better ride, and with the size of rims and tires it's almost the exact dimensions of the stock wheels and tires. The difference it the two tires sizes is only about 5mm along the side walls.

has anyone placed after markets wheels on their genesis without putting tpms air stems back on , if so let me know what lights up on youir dash or take a poic for me & show , thanks,

you see i want to do after market wheels & tires but dont want to return back to the dealer & let them see it or ask them to reprogram my new wheels with sensors because in the future if i have any suspension problems i dont want them to say its because of the aftermarket wheel, i will just take em off & place the oem wheels back on & take it in for service

Here is a good wheel and tire fitting calculator someone posted in another thread. Somewhere is a post regarding the Genesis's offset...it is different between 17" and 18" maybe 40 on the 18? I went with 17" winter tires and I could really notice a ride improvement. I imagine going bigger would cause a similar degradation.

Keep in mind also that 19" tires are generally more expensive than 20" tires.

Starting to search for some wheels for summer setup, can anyone confirm the hub bore size for the 4.6 Tech?

So far this is what I have as the OEM wheel.

Size 18"
Width 7.5"
Bolt Pattern 5 x 4.5" (114.3mm)
Offset 39mm
Hub Bore 67.1 mm for 3.8L (is this the same for the 4.6 Tech with limited slip differential?)

Has anyone found replacement wheels that are hubcentric without centering rings?

As for tires 245/50/18 would be 10mm wider and a bit taller than stock, car would be going 1.6% faster than speedometer reads.

Didn't want to create a new thread... so I tagged along on this one. Hope it's okay.

Basically, I've been photoshopping my potential aftermarket wheels - the plan right now is to use the stock 18's on the 4.6 over the New England winter, and slap one of these on when the weather is nicer.

Pretty sure I'm going with one of the 18's, but man, those MRR 19's are oh so sweet....

What are your thoughts, folks? Which do you like best? Or none at all? :)

Those 2nd ones should go really nicely with the Genesis curves... I think the straight edged rims just clash, to be honest. Nice choices though! Loving the second set.

I will try to photoshop these tonight when I get home.

I like the TSW Londrina chrome and the TSW Mallory is nice looking. My problem is I know why the factory wheels are not chromed and right now I have no ride issues what so ever. I did put Continental Extreme Contact DWS 235-50-18 on my car. I am just afraid with my luck I will buy an after market wheel and run into balance and vibrations problems but if I do go with an after market wheel I think I would go with the TSW Londrina (chrome) 18x8 wheels. The silver in this wheel looks nice too. The winters here can be rough and I have never changed out chrome wheels in the winter but I guess I never kept a car long enough for the chrome to look bad. a few years back I had a bad exsperience with some wheels that I did a chrome exchange, however the company did replace the wheels. The chrome exchange wheels did ok but I said I would not get chrome exchange wheels again. I have no problem with the factory wheels it is just that it has been a while since I have had wheels that were not chromed. As you can see I am just trying to talk myself into leaving well enough alone. I have already put the wings on the trunk, wing airbag module, wing center caps and replaced the tires. Good Luck..............

I didn't realize they were the same - but I see it now. VERY NICE SET OF WHEELS INDEED.

Here's my hack job:

Didn't know what color Genny you had... though I saw you post something about a white one earlier.

Looks the part! :)
