  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,
I've owned my '09 Genesis 4.6 for a little over a month and notice a slight vibration starting around 70mph. I notice it in the front end of the car, just a very faint shaking, side to side, through the pedals, seat and steering wheel. I asked about it when I bought it and also when I had the dealer replace a faulty steering wheel adjustment switch - both times they said there was no issue. I have the feeling that it's slightly out of balance - is there anything else that could cause such a faint vibration?

I almost bought a used Genesis before I bought my new one. The car I test drove had a slight pull and vibration like you re describing. The car needs to go to an alignment shop or a really competent tire shop. They have the road force balancer that calibrates the tire/wheel balance under load. it will take all of 20 minutes to get it remedied, but they have to have the right machine. Most dealers only deal with installing new tires so they don;t deal with older wheel/tire combinations all the time.

The other thing that could be causing your problem is a broken belt on the tire; it would need to be replaced if that's the case. Good luck

++++1 ^^^ from what so many others have indicated. I had mine when new aligned and Road Force balance. Made a difference from the first 500 miles driven.

Ok, I'll have to see what shops do that in my area. I recall having horrible balancing issues on my old G35 6MT and it was fixed quickly, but I forget how they did it. Thanks!!

Anytime.
