  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Slip_Angle's G70

I thought about it for quite some time but after much deliberation, I just thought the dynamic wheels and seats suited my style a tiny bit more. I did give up a few things not going with the sport but nothing that was top of list as a requirement.

Both trims are super nice
One thing I would change with the G70 is making the other interior colours available on the sport trim. I love brown interiors.

The ATS was quite good in many ways and just "ok" in others. Handling wise, it was near the top of class. The 3.6 liter has 335 hp and is fun but closer to the bottom of the class when comparing performance numbers... between 5.2 and 5.5 0-60. I did like that the recommended fuel was regular 87 octane.. The transmission was inconsistent. Sometimes shifting harsh or herky jerky but under heavier acceleration it was a decent 8 speed. The ride was good but any pot holes would be felt like no other... Sometimes I thought the shock penetrated the shock tower... In terms of features the ATS has a fair amount and some that beat other manufacturers to the market. Cadillac had a remote start app like Genesis connect years ago, so that was really nice for winter. The ATS interior left a lot to be desired. It was decent but certainly bottom of the class. I thought the CUE infotainment was better than reviews said. It integrated with Android Auto well and had some nice features with no lag.

If you want a really good handling "drivers car", the ATS would deliver. It's lighter than the G70 as well.

Compared to the G70 (based on my first few days...)

G70 quality is much higher with an attention to detail that Cadillac can't match.
G70 is much more powerful as compared to the NA 335hp 3.6 AWD
G70 handling feels on par (Need more driving time without worrying about the break in period)
G70 transmission is better (Need more driving time without worrying about the break in period)
Interior space wise, the cars feel almost identical.

The G70 feels like it's in an entirely different class compared to the current ATS...however, the new CT3/4/5 (ATS replacement) will arrive soon and I expect Cadillac will have upped their game. I do expect those cars to have some serious performance but I'm not sure they will match the quality of the G70.

Thank you for affirming what those of us still waiting were hoping to hear. The best feature of the G70 Forum is the unbiased opnions from actual owners.

A few more higher quality pictures for those looking at Santiago Silver..!

Stock wheels are the 20 spoke, winters are the 5 spoke black.

Thanks for the pics! I'm dead set on silver. Which trim is that? Prestige, or Elite? Looks beautiful.

Edit: spelling

With Spring coming, it's going to be time to swap wheels but I really like these Black FAST 5 spoke rims.. I also really like the factory 20 spoke rims... Should I swap the winters over to the factory 20 spokes or leave em??

Thoughts?

Swap em! I think it looks better with the darker rims. But I'm a bit biased, I never really liked the 20-spokers.

Tough call. Both look pretty good. I have the same Fast 5 spoke for my winters and I gets lots of people complimenting me on them. At the car wash people are always walking up asking me about them. I think the way the spokes angle out and then in near the centre of the wheel give them a unique look. Do you have a full side pic view with the black rims on?

If it was me I'd base my choice on what style of look you want. The 20 spokes give the car a more classy/luxury and less aggressive look. The Fast rims give the car a more aggressive and sporty look with a little more contrast to the rest of the car. Go with which look you'd prefer for your car. I'd lean to the black rims as I'm not as big fan of lots of spokes in general, not just the on G70.

I still can't get around how completely unusable the back seat is of the ATS.

I've never sat in one. Do you know how the back seat compares between the ATS and the G70?

I had my ATS for 2 years and never really sat in the back seat, however on test drive and cleaning it I did. Thought they were pretty similar...
