  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is the purpose of the slot to the right of where you put the FOB on the bottom of the dash. It is the 1" high by about 4" horizontal?? It also has a rubber cover???? I see no use for it.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I tried to put CD's, but everytime you start off, they slide out. So, it's useless, unless there's a reasion I don't know about.

Android, Iphone, Blackberry, etc or notepad and other such stuff

Cigarettes to go with the ash tray just beneath the slot (if you happen to be a smoker). My Hyundai rep told me once "those Koreans are smokers". Haha

lol, I have a visual of you trying to put CD's into this storage area...

Good place for your wallet and small cell phone.

Just a useless hole in the dash.. everything sldies out. I put in a "tacky" thin rubber piece that keeps stuff in now, but it made the space a bit smaller.

perfect size for a .380

My (clip-on) sunglasses fit in there. I use the pulldown compartment above the mirror to store my EZ Pass transponder - I don't stick it to the windshield because I only use it a couple of times a year and it looks pretty ugly.

I've decided it's a good place to put money when you receive change from a parking attendant. I once received about $15 in brand new bills and put them on top of the closed ash tray. When I came to an abrupt stop they slid under the dash never to be seen again.

The consensus is that it is useless slot serving no real purpose. Why did Hyundai put it there for????

Not completely useless - I installed a passport laser shifter unit in the front grilles and the control module fits perfectly in there. I even had room for a bass knob and I like that it's fair inconspicuous.

can u take a pic of the slot u are referring to plz?

Put my iphone in there you don't need it in your pocket because you can use the hands free system. I had an old razer pho that took 5 minutes to connect to the system and when you shut the car off it disconnected. Genny and my iphone automaticly connect when I get in the car and slide it in the little slot, iphone.

I use it as my phone holder. Anything else is not worth the time

"The consensus is that it is a useless slot which serves no real purpose. What did Hyundai put it there for?"

The 2 post out of the 10 prior to nb_mike's which note that the slot was "useless" is far from a consensus. Then again, we now regularly allow vocal minorities to dictate our lives, so perhaps 20% agreement is a consensus by today's standards?

[Sorry...I was in a grammatical/statistical mood today. ;) For those who may be offended by corrections made to poor grammar and statistical analysis, please accept my humble apologies.]

I checked my yesterday, unless I'm special :D, mine came with a small rubber pad in it to keep things from sliding out. Great place for a wallet or phone.
