If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

slow 0-60 times

you drive a 3.8 so how would you know what a 4.6 will do 385hp will get you there.

Yep, I do drive the 2012 3.8. If I wanted a performance car that was track able it would not be the Genesis thats all! The performance #'s between the V6 and the 4.6 are not far off? Are they? Go Check! Part of my reason for purchasing it after test driving both cars. Reason being...weight and GDI! Not to mention an improved compression ratio and a better steering feel IMO on the V6. I did my homework and bought the car I wanted. I don't get why some of the 4.6 V8 guys get so insulted. Maybe it's because it's not an R-Spec. All of the HP #'s represented by most manufactures are measured from the flywheel...Not where the rubber meets the road.

33MPG on a 4.6 V8? WOW!!! This is equal or better than V6. Best I've got on my former 2011 Genesis 4.6 was 27 on hwy...

With favorable roads and conditions I get 32 highway... measured.

Have you driven a V8 i drove all 3 motors and the 3.8 is quick for a v6 but you can hear it rev all the way while the v8 is smooth and strong. nothing against he V6 but i just stated if you drove a V8 and some will be insulted if you state that you dont think the car will do what it does. Heck the 3.8 is 5.9 0-60 not to shabby at all. I come from Dodge charger with all the muscle and torque so i know the Wheel HP, in my charger it was 345 hp these cars are probably running 315-320 stock rear wheel hp

wow totally unhelpful. so basically a combination between iPhone timing and poor driving accounts for almost 3 seconds? and with the iPhone timing, if it was so far off, you'd think some of the times would be quicker too wouldn't you?

as for mileage, i've found on long highway drives if you use the adaptive cruise control you can get an extra 3-4 mpg out of it. or at least with my normal driving habits you can

The measurement error for this particular case is within seconds hence is repetitive. This type of measurements are useless. Drag strip will give you the right answer.

Im not insulted.........just curious what I won from our bet that the 4.6 stock cant do 0-60 in 5.5s (jk)

My typical best MPG all highway is 26. I live in Mass. Not a lot of flat roads around here.

What do they call Massachusetts drivers........Mass-Holes!

Take your care to dealer right away. Something is terribly wrong with your car.

My wifes Honda Odysee (2012) does 0-60 in 7.8. About the same weight and only 255hp.

Does that help?

Feel free to correct me - and I've had cars that hit all of these:

0-60 time feel =

9 sec - not so bad, not fast, but still fun when you floor it
8 sec - starting to be fun - sometimes leaves you thinking your car is fast
7 sec - makes you want to race a GTI and start timing your 0-60 times
6 sec - it is starting to get a little scary - but you get used to it with time
5 sec - puts a grin on your face and you are ready to race anything - things happen fast and you start to worry you will kill yourself
4 sec - induces spontaneous laughter and yelps of joy, you barely remember shifting and start to imagine yourself losing control and wrapped around a tree, later that night the feeling of speed will be resonating in your head

When I can afford a GT-R I'll add to this list.

The most outstanding driver's car I've ever owned did 0-60 in the 10 second range. In its day, my new 1970 BMW 2002 was king of the road.

Ryan, just lie about it. That's why 99% of us car guys never go to the track. Just stay in a fast frame of mind and allow no timing mechanism to darken your perspective.

To be fair you are quoting performance #'s from a 2009 V6 car that has way less power and displacement:

2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 Sedan 0-60 mph 5.5 Quarter Mile 13.9 ★ Editor's Choice ★

2009 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Sedan 0-60 mph 5.9 Quarter Mile 14.3

The stated performance #'s on the 2012 V6 are better than the 4.6 liter engine!! Just saying...

2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Sedan 0-60 mph 5.4 Quarter Mile 13.8

So...if we are talking about performance why would anyone by the 4.6 right now? I have not and prob. will not ever drive my Genesis as hard as I drove my track car (04 WRX with 300 BHP) That car had 20 plus pounds of Turbo charged boost to rip around autocross tracks. I spent 8 years learning about how to make power. I'm no expert. But I know a bit. If I am wrong about the 4.6 reaching 5.5 secs, so be it. Enjoy it!

^^ Very good point. The only reason I'm going to buy the V8 is because I cant afford a new genesis. So the GDI 6 (GDI is exactly how it makes that extra HP) is out of the question for me.

I would love to see a GDI 6 quarter against the 4.6 in real world.

i agree i will never drive my genesis like i drove my 345rwhp charger it was muscle. the genesis is luxury that has speed when you need it.

I take you had a Dodge SRT 8 bc I don't know of any dodge putting 345hp at the wheels unless is a modified R/T

I would be willing to bet that a stock 4.6 liter Genny will not hit 5.5 secs from 0-60. I don't care what the hyundai stat sheet claims.

Let me get this straight. You don't care what the Hyundai stat sheet claims are for a 4.6 V8 but you site the specs on your car from the same source like it's the bible. How convenient of you.

Nope..I dont care what the stat sheet says for EITHER CAR. Just like you quoted me..I didn't think the 4.6 would do 5.5 sec. I don't think my V6 will do that either. Could I be wrong, sure. Thats just me. But if you really want to be accurate for the record...I was simply responding to another post who was making it as if the V8 4.6 liter was faster. I was just throwing back some accurate #'s according to what was "stated". I actually copied it from an earlier post. I don't drive a 290 HP V6 as was quoted. So I was trying to make the point that the 2012 V6 is faster...right? Seriously, if you want me to tell you the 4.6 Genesis is a track ready race car and my V6 is a it's little brother..I'm good with that. It's almost like you used be be the big boy on the block when the Genesis came out, and now...not! Mr. Park its time you bought the R-spec so you can put me in my place!

...thats all I was trying to say. I love the Genesis. On the highway the car is effortless. I have no hate for the V8;)
