  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do not know what this is ... or whats it for . Small black box , with a light in front and some button in the middle . G2.webp

A black wire runs from it into the fuse area.

It looks like someone added a fusebox kill switch. It's definately not an OEM device. Never seen one on any Genesis but have seen similar on other vehicles.

Press it and see if it kills all the auto electronics.:popcorn: . I mean you never know until you try.

Actually looks like a terrorist UXO/IED trigger to me, but hey I'm just a retired soldier with allot of EOD experience. . Squeeze them butt cheeks tight, it helps when you're about to detonate a device. Tampons shoved in the right place work well also!:hillarious:

Luckily no explosion . Started the car and pressed the button - nothing happened at all .
No electrical cutoff .

The wire is going somewhere up ... above the fuse area.

my first impression was it was one of those wifi ODB 2 scanners , but its not connected to the port .
Wire is going up somewhere i cant seem to figure out .

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Maybe it's a time dependent detonator.:hillarious: .

Actually I just don't know. Anyone................ did the little indicator light, light up when you pushed it? This with indicate power up to the device.

No , the light never comes up. Maybe its some dead device . Will leave it as is and get it checked in my next servicing .

A wild guess here, if you open the hood you may see the same colored wires coming through the engine firewall and terminating somewhere near the air filter housing, if so, my guess it is one of those cheap mystical chips in a black box with a lamp, that supposed to give you additional horse power (and the previous owner fell for the sales pitch and went through the effort to install it!).
As I recall, we had a believer or two in the past... Just my two cents...

looks like one of those shady dealer tracking/kill devices...

I think you're right carguy75 .

I kept working on it yesterday - and see this behavior . Engine switched off and driver door opened - the led blinks 5 - 10 times . When i close the driver door and lock it , it blinks one time . Its related to the car lock / unlock of driver door .
