  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Smart Cruise Control

the SCC is actually a blessing in stop and go traffic, didn't touch the pedal once for 45 mins in a traffic jam.

I have found the cruise control in the Genesis to be...adequate. It's much too slow to respond to cars that speed up in front of me, much too slow when speeding up when a slower moving car gets out of my lane, and it's way too sensitive and is constantly "seeing" things that it thinks it needs to slow down for, but shouldn't. I find the intelligent cruise control system in my '15 Explorer to be much more responsive, although it's not designed for full-stops like the Genesis. I also get quite a bit of false alarms of an impending forward collision and ironically, I can't even hear the alert if my stereo is turned up to normal listening levels.

You'll be happy to know in your nest Genesis there are three settings foe the SCC actions. Same with the Collision notice. I never had a problem hearing the alarm but we may have a different idea of what constitutes normal volume level on the radio. I usually have it on #10. In another thread it was mentioned that the volume does not go high enough. I just can't imagine.

Ditto...it brakes way too hard at the last second for my taste in city driving. And if you are following a car at a much lower speed than what the cruse is set to, and you go into a somewhat sharp corner, it "loses" sight of the vehicle and really jumps the speed up. Then you come out of the corner, it sees the car again, and slams the speed down. Can really wake you up!

It is what it is and should only really be used on the open freeway...

I can't imagine attempting to use "cruise control" in city driving. Seems counterintuitive to me.

Agree on city driving in heavy traffic, but there are times aside from the highway. I occasionally travel a couple of roads, two lanes each way, with traffic lights, speed limit 45. At times I can follow comfortably and have the minor speed adjustments done for me. You still have to look out the window and even steer though. You could never do it with regular CC.
