  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello All: Today I tried to unlock and lock my drivers side door by touching the touch sensor on the door handle and it would not unlock or lock the doors. I tried the drivers passenger side and its works fine. Also the Face Connect stopped working. Touching the touch sensor on the drivers door, the circular light on the column does not light up at all. For now I must use the key fob to unlock and lock the doors. Has anyone else had this issue and know the possible cause/fix?

I've not had that problem or heard of it, but it sure sounds like the touch sensor on the driver side door handle might have failed.

It's always worth trying a couple of reboots. First try the dashboard button version, then try a 12V disconnect.

Thanks for the advice. I went out to the car to do the dashboard reboot but first touched the door sensor on the door handle and it started to work again (will see how long that lasts) but I noted the face sensor was still not working. I did the in car reboot and also deleted my facial profile and reset it. The face sensor still does not work. At least for now the door sensor handle is working… if I do a 12v disconnect will I lose all of my settings?

In the Genesis GV60 owners manual on page 5-36 it states in part… “During a car wash or rain, in order to minimize unintentional operation of the touch sensor, the touch sensor may become insensitive. This is not a malfunction.”

I had just washed and dried the car yesterday. The car was dry when I noticed the problems. This does not make sense if washing the car had anything to do with this issue as I always wash the car and the gets wet from rain and this issue never happened before. Besides, the face recognition still does not work. For now at least the door touch sensor started to work again for what ever reason.

I've only done a 12V battery disconnect once. As I recall, there was only one setting that was lost, but I forget which one!

I believe this is correct as well - maybe SiriusXM favorites? I exclusively use faceID/fingerprint so I'm pressing the outside handle-button pretty frequently, and lately I've found it less responsive, or it takes 2 presses to activate. It's not enough to deem it an approaching-failure but that was in my mind.

This happened to me, also after a car wash. In my case, I washed while the fob was in my pocket so it kept unlocking as I walked around spraying. Thus, due to the fob proximity, the handle kept popping out and getting wet underneath.

I had to have the whole handle replaced (though the sensor did work occasionally after the washing) to fix the problem. In my research, I found others reported a similar problem after a wash...

In my case I had put the key fob in the house as I did not want the handle popping in and out as I washed the car.

After I had washed my car on Nov. 25 and the drivers door handle and eye sensor stopped working, about a week later it started to work again. Yesterday Jan. 8th was the first time I had washed the car again and this morning I tried the drivers door sensor and eye sensor and they stopped working again. hopefully it will start to work again after drys out some more. It sounds like I may have to take the car back to the dealer for repair, but it's a pain as they are not that close to home.
