  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just purchased a 2015 Genesis 5.0 with the ultimate package from a dealer in SoCal. The Carfax listed it as a corporate fleet vehicle (possibly owned by Hyundai since it was registered in Fountain Valley) in 01/15 and only had 200 miles on it. Dealer was great to work with and price was right.

Drove it home to Vegas yesterday and I'm just now realizing that although it truly does have the ultimate package, it does not have the smart trunk feature in the door/trunk setting. It's simply not there in the menu. It also does not have a heated steering wheel, which I would assume would be pretty much standard for this car.

Anyone have a similar issue? Could this merely be a software update? I will bring it to my local dealer on Monday, but sometimes dealers know less than car enthusiasts on these types of forums.

The only US version that has heated steering wheel is the 3.8 all wheel drive. It has heated steering wheel and heated rear seats. If you have the ultimate trim, you should have the smart trunk lid. Here is a Youtube video describing smart trunk.

Thanks for the info and video. No heated steering wheel in the 5.0. Understood.

However, when I get to the door/trunk menu, there is no option to select the smart trunk. It's not on the menu.....neither are a couple of other options shown on the list in the video. WTF?

What else is missing? Dealer or Hyundai should be able to clarify and figure this. Did you check with them yet?

Curious, what kind of pricing you got for this, and warranty? Was it full new car warranty?

Thanks

Excellent point by Confucious.

I know my smart trunk option was on a settings menu because I disabled it.

The thing was unlatching when I walked past the car to the mailbox. Bad.

That's unusual, as it needs to have the key close by for 3 seconds. If the warning beeps start and you walk away, it cancels. Either you walk really slowly or your mailbox is literally next to the car trunk

scroll down, I'll bet it's there!

You are correct sir. I am a moron.

I did, however take it to the dealer today because I felt some vibration on the drive from California to Las Vegas, as well as a few drops of oil leaking on my garage floor.

They informed me of the tire recall and that the front crank seal needs to be replaced.....both of which will happen sometime next week.

The tire change doesn't bother me (as long as they don't scratch up the wheels and they know how use a road force balance machine), but the car has less than 600 miles on it and I'm not too thrilled about them having to tear into the engine bay so soon. I can only imagine what the pristine black paint on the front bumper and fenders is going to look like when they're done. Oh well.....all I can do hope for the best. NOT a very nice way to start the ownership experience.

It's a CPO vehicle so I got the full warranty. Car only had 200 miles on it, paid $44K. Original sticker was about $55K.

There is a thread somewhere on this site regarding the tire recall. I couldn't locate it quickly, but it sounds like you have 2-3 years to swap the tires under the recall so you may want to wait until you wear down your Hankooks unless you're having a bad experience with them. My CPO 3.8 I just picked up had the Michelin's on them so I wasn't afforded this option.
