  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have recently seen in my center LCD screen the warning "Smart Ventilation is Running". I checked the my interior heating and cooling controls and they were all off. Outside temps was 56 Fahrenheit and the weather was misty. All my windows were shut.

I checked the owner's manual and didn't find anything for "Smart Ventilation". Could this be related to the feature which circulates outside air if it senses a build up of carbon dioxide in the cabin?

What is "Smart Ventilation"? My car is the 2015 V6 Genesis Ultimate AWD.

Does this answer the question? From Owner's manual:

Thanks! Yesterday was the first day that I saw the warning message, hence my concern.

This is responding to an old post....Dec. 2014, but this happened to me today as well. I have a 2017 G80 and noticed for the first time today the "Smart Ventilation is ON" message on the LDC screen. The above answer is what I was trying to find. Who knew?

I've only seen the message once in 6 month of ownership.

This begs the question of why anyone would ever operate the car with the HVAC turned off. ????

The first thing I do when I get a new car is read the owner's manual from front to back. Then you are not left wondering. Lots of good information in there.

For me it is the second thing to do. I may look at a short version, but after driving the car for a couple of days it is easier to understand the manual as you may have seen a feature and need better explanation. Even going from a 2015 to a 2018, the minor changes made it a worthwhile read. Not a bad ideal to take a glance after a few month of ownership too.

Getting back to the Smart Vent, I see no reason not to bring in fresh air. Climate control systems handle even extreme temperatures well enough to vent your farts as you drive. I guess you can turn it off if you have the windows down, but I rarely put them down.

If my rear windows did not have motors I'd never know it. On my 2001 Buick I hit the down button by accident and broke the lift. Ended up propping the glass with a notched wood stick. Months later did it again on the other side. Same thing, propped it with a stick to hold the glass up. Of course, everything was falling apart on that beast, my last GM car ever.

Bit funny having the manual talk about clean air ionizer when the AS smells like dirty socks after a few months use in the summer.

I lived in Bergen County, NJ (Teaneck area) for most of my life. What you say is called bunkum in polite circles.

Lived in Hoboken and family lived there until my Dad passed last year. I concur.
