  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

so after almost three years the ICCU got me

I just heard back from my CA. It is the ICCU and this time they are replacing the hardware. He said I would likely be getting my car back on Thursday or Friday of this week.

Make it 4 people on the forum — Genesis of Doylestown just confirmed the POP I heard Saturday was the ICCU giving up the ghost.

I spied the turtle indicator, never a good sign.

Heading out shortly to fetch my loaner since they expect to have the beast until Friday.

Rather annoyed because this is my third or fourth ICCU-related service visit, not including the recalls. Prior follies documented here:

Diagnostic code P1AA900 (Battery Management System subsystem): anyone else?

Check electrical vehicle system warning once again
Oboy - Genesis of D'town is local to me as well - there aren't too many of us around so I've probably see you out and about. Good luck!

So if you purchase a car for $100K and it ceases to proceed on the fifth day you are fine with that. After all, you didn't feel entitled to anything.
That’s a false equivalency, unworthy of a direct response.

To everyone experiencing an ICCU issue, I'm very sorry for what you have had to go through. Please, please, please, if you have experienced this issue report it to NHTSA at the link below. This is the only way we can compel Genesis to issue a recall and require a more robust fix since thus far they see to have only slapped a bandaid on the problem.

Yes!! I second this. The loss of power and mobility could result in a totally unsafe operating condition that might cause injury or significant damage.

What is a CA?

I was just told mine was completed today. Very much looking forward to getting my GV60 back.

The powertrain on the GV70 loaner was atrocious, and it has gotten very cold of late and waiting for the engine to warm up to deliver heat wasn't pleasant. The car did have HDA2 (which my GV60 doesn't), which is a nice feature.

I describe it as when one steps on the accelerator of the the GV70 2.5 the vehicle appears to stop and think: should I go or not. After pausing and considering, it advances. But sometimes it is ready to go. That makes it, in my opinion, somewhat dangerous as one cannot predict what will happen.

I don't feel comfortable filing a report as my car directed me to park. I was able to drive slowly to my son's house. I don't consider this a reportable event.

I’ve had a GV70 as a loaner twice in the past. To me it’s a nice looking car on the outside and inside but some of the interior materials seem of less quality than the GV60 and I do agree it lacks power. But overall I did no mind driving it and it took “regular” gas vs. “premium” like our Lexus which was a plus.

I don't think you have much to say about reporting it. The dealer is required to record and report recall data. If/when it happens to me, I expect that the dealer will record and report, but I will also try to file a NHTSA report to see if I will be prevented from 'double-reporting' the same event on the same VIN. We haven't been fully informed on how ICCU failures are tallied. Do two ICCU failures in one VIN count as one, or two? Come to think of it, if the first fix fails does it get subtracted from the list of 'repaired'?
It's ok to report something to NHTSA and let them decide what is or is not worth accepting...certainly can't hurt.

Just a couple of observations after the install if the new ICCU. 1) The miles per KW seemed to improve. 2) Prior to the ICCU failure I used to see the orange light on the dash light up very often to charge the 12 volt battery and every couple of days I would notice a drop in the total charge % of the main battery. I'm not seeing a drop in the main battery level after 3 days but I'm also have not seen the orange light come on even once. I checked 12 volt battery level and it's o.k.. I do hope it's still charging the 12 volt battery.

Keep in mind that the previous, software-only "fix" for the ICCU was considered a safety failure by HKG in their reporting to NHTSA (NHTSA ID Number: 24V868000;
Loss of Drive Power from Damaged Charging Unit).

There's lots of documentation to read on the NHTSA site, but cut to the chase ... In their very own words, "A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash."

I am very glad that you weren't in a situation where the ICCU failure resulted in a crash - firstly. That said, not every situation will play out that way. The original recall, as others have posted about, specifically called out an increased risk of crashing.

Genesis has not actually addressed the root of the problem and only issued a software bandaid which frankly is just kicking the can down the road and we are seeing these things continue to fail.

I'm not sure I trust Genesis to fully report the failures. Taking it upon yourself is a way to force the issue and make sure we are holding Genesis accountable.

I do love warming up my car in the garage while plugged into the charger and the speed the interior warms up at work since there is not engine block to warm up.

What are the upgrades with HDA2? It seems like we would have all of the needed sensors based on our trim levels. I wonder if it is as simple as a software update.

What your experiencing is turbo lag, here is a nice video on it. One would think that GMA would have used a twin turbo to reduce the lag.

Please explain. Does the error limit acceleration or top speed? If so how significant was it?

After my ICCU popped, I limped home at a top speed of ~25 mph (I would have chosen a different term, but Genesis calls it “limp mode”)

Yay. I got my GV60P back this morning. I missed my little luxurious pocket rocket.
Can you let us know if your orange light ( to charge the 12 volt battery) on the crash dash comes on. I have not seen mine come on since the new ICCU was installed last weekend.
