  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When raised on a farm, you find that the most useful piece of machinery is just a good ole' truck. For the past 7 years...I have done without...for good reason. But its time for me to go back home to my roots!

The Genesis is unbelievably amazing and such a wonderful asset to the automotive industry!

With that being said, I hate to see you go. My wife loves her RX400h and will not part with it and I am ready to ease my way back into the truck market. The Lexus in nice, but a little difficult to throw a weed eater in the back and head over to mom and dad's without the wife going nuts because her car smells like gas...HA!

Being a diehard Toyota fan for YEARS, I have opted to go with the exact truck pictured below. I have already arranged the purchase of the 5.7L TRD Supercharger and the truck will be under factory warranty at 504 HP! With 4:10 gears, she will outrun any Genny or 370Z in a straight line...which is another selling point. 1/4 miles in the double cab are in high 12's and with a good tune low 12's...which is right up my ally...of course!

The truck will be delivered mid-november and the charger around Christmas (if we get our Christmas bonus on time). I feel like Clark Griswold from Christmas Vacation who anxiously awaits his bonus check to put in a pool...HA!

Anywho, Ill post more as it arrives as well as the final trade in value of my Genny...of which some of you may be interested.:o

The truck sounds awesome. I got out of truck and SUV ownership to get the Genesis. Just got tired of driving it. Now after a summer of yard projects I miss having it. I put a tow hitch on the Genesis and it does very well taking the garden tractors for service, getting a load of mulch and other weekend house duties on a little 5x8 trailer. Also tows the Rocket on the same trailer(1100 lbs bike and trailer) as well, actually it does a better job than than Denali it replaced. Still, for convenience sake I too am looking for a pickup but in addition to, not to replace the Genesis. I am just going to buy a beater for a few grand and hide it in my building at the back of my house when I don't need it.

Awesome truck! My only question is, why not pick up an older truck for around $5,000 and keep the Genesis. I would think with the trade in hit you will take on the Genesis and what that truck (w/mods) will cost you, you would still come out ahead buying an old truck.

OTOH if you just want to drive a truck everyday, then go for it!

I'm with tjc78. Although I have a 2004 2500HD Duramax. I'd say a nice early 2000 tacoma with the TRD supercharger would do just the trick, unless you want a bigger body.

Those Tundras are a heck of a truck though.

That run was with a supercharger, nitrous and drag radials. I don't think you're going to see low 12s without buying a Ferrari and putting the Tundra body on top. :p

HA! I misquoted the information. I meant 1/4 miles in the low 13's and a good tune in the 12's.

Drag Tires would be a must...if I plan on taking it to the track...but Im sure some super sticky summer tires and knowing how to launch the truck would be sufficient. Nitrous...I'll think about it...HA!

Talked with toyota today. The truck has been located in TN and they are working a deal to get it here in Alabama. TN state tax is 7% I believe...AL tax is 4%. So yeah, Id rather purchase here in Alabama. :)

Matt, if you're looking for a fast truck maybe consider a desiel. Buy a power programer and it's a fast truck and the desiel can take as much power as you can throw at it with fuel, plus low maintenience vs. gas motor. This is IF, you are willing to buy one of the big 3's low quality vehicles I guess.

Thanks man! I know that diesel is the way to go...but I just cant find myself giving a bunch of money to GOVERNMENT Motors (GM) and with the luck my family has had in the past with FORD (Found On Roadside Dead...no...really)I just dont want to take the chance...even if FORD has managed to make a profit this quarter.

Low Quality...you nailed it.

Having had several TRD supercharged Toyota's, I am more than confident in my decision and the fact that any and all TRD accessories are warranted as long as the car is...it more than sweetens the deal.

Anywho, I have been removing any and all modifications that were installed on the Genny and all I have left is the exhaust. I'm wondering if I should remove it and sell it here or just leave it on and give them the OEM stuff too.

Oh well, we will see.;)
