  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Found a 'new' 2011 Hyundai Equus Signature that a dealer has had for 2+ years on the lot. Clean CarFAX.

I bought it for $39k, 3,800 miles on it, it is considered new, never titled, warranty starts now.

A score? Or ho-hum? Or is it that it's new, but its been there so long it will fall apart when I touch it? LOL

Any pointers when buying aging 'new' cars?

Thanks, love the forum, thanks for the comments.

Sounds like a good deal. The key is as long as you are happy...that's all that counts.

If the car is clean, you got a FANTASTIC deal. I would consider trading my R Spec for that car "straight-up".

Congratulations.

Even if it's like my 2011? Same 4.6 and ZF 6 speed as my 2009 Genny? Don't get me wrong, I love my Horse! But it's basically a gussied up Gen with air suspension.
Or maybe I just have horsepower and gear envy?
;)
At least the 2014 will be coming soon, and it wouldn't surprise me if Hyundai offers a sweet "early out" to early adopters. Or I can wait 'till January when my lease ends.
To OP: congrats, you'll love it! Over 2 years in mine now and I still get questions/looks!

I don't think most people would be able to tell the difference between the 4.6 and 5.0, nor the gearboxes.

And all the fun toys inside would distract the rest of us that COULD tell.

Then again, I'm the guy who holds onto cars for 10+ years. And that one sounds like a keeper.

Hi guys.

Thanks so much for the responses. I did of course check this vehicle through CARFAX, and it was clean. I even called up Hyundai and gave them the VIN number to confirm that it was indeed a NEW car, and that if I bought it I would receive the full warranty, and extra services. They confirmed that I would, and the car is considered new.

Guess it was a good deal. You can of course find other Equus cars for about the same price, with pretty low miles, but if you are the second owner, you do not get the extra service such as pickup and drop off. Considering this is a new vehicle, that was a decent plus for me.

Side question, my nearest Equus dealer is 60 miles away, but there is a fairly decent Hyundai dealer just 15 miles away, but they do not sell Equus. Could that dealership do anything for the Equus? Even small things? Or can they not even touch it, or if they did, it would be a non-warranty service.

Thanks guys, can't wait to pick up my new Equus and be an official member.

P.S.-I think I have owed a lot of Hyundia's: Azera, Genesis, Sonota, now Equus... better get that H logo tattoo'd on my butt ;)
